has anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?.
did they really try to prove it to you or did they write you off as hopelessly lost or somewhere in between?
as some of you are aware, i have been trying to get my wife to prove it to me, and if not her, another believing jehovahs witness.
I tried the 1919 thing, my B.I. Law said "I am satisfied with the evidence" but would not say what the evidence was. I wrote a letter to his son, also an Elder, and outlined the problem of 1919 and its ramifications, he never replied.
A willfully closed mind is as hard to open as a Scotsman's wallet. (that well worn joke is a vile calumny, my Scottish friends are the most generous people I know).

I was born in to the cancerous-cult in 1950. I remember all the articles telling us to stay close to God's Org. etc, but they were, in the main not written in such a way that you felt you had to be connected hip and thigh to a bunch of men in Brooklyn.
I definately feel that the demands for loyalty to this group of imposters has grown much much more shrill and frequent in recent years, they scream it out at every opportunity, it has also sunk to new depths, saying even if you don't understand one or more of their orders ("Do we have to drink this Kool-aid Mommy ? " "Yes, darling we must be obedient to the GB, even if they are murdering bastards") you still blindly obey.
Well, why not obey ? They have such a wonderful record of gettting things right. NOT!.

to arrive at its date of 607 bce for jerusalems destruction, the wts uses what it calls bible chronology.. this bible chronology says that since the seventy year period ended in 537 bce, when 70 years are counted back this provides the 607 bce date for jerusalems destruction.. the wts says its bible chronology method is superior to the secular uninspired chronology provided by secular sources.. does the wtss bible chronology align with the bibles teachings on the seventy years?
is its method the valid way to determine when jerusalem was destroyed?.

i met the lovely mummatron 2 weeks ago and had a fab day x. tomorrow, cantleave and nugget are travelling down with their kids and stopping off to say hi for a few hours before continuing through wales!.
im making a huge lasagne, and have got the beers and vino in.......so excited!.
will be great putting faces to the name, and im glad that at long last, i seem to be able to step out of my little world and make friends.. have got my smurf hanging outside the door so they know my house............. feels like an early christmas present, happy days!

I don't think so, we will always be aware how fragile is the hand of Authority, of how many are prepared to commit crime,( some of the criminal acts being commited by Authority figures, it isn't just an underclass that are guilty,) and of how our un-equal society breeds envy and discontent, which is no surprise.
We need to work for a much more fair and egalitarian society, with opportunity for all.
People need hope.

I feel a great kinship with you Stillin, as I have written on other threads, when I started giving PT's as a M.S in the early seventies, I used to do my own outline/talk. This was allowed to continue for some time until stamped on by a firm letter from HQ.
I still gave PT's but prepared them as you describe, always bringing something fresh to the table,even a talk I had given before would be refreshed.
I used Bible Commentaries to get a good understanding of the scriptures I used and their context, often giving good background info. before reading the verses, a contrast to most robot Dub speakers who just read a verse with no knowledge of its context, and no explanation of its import, because they don't understand what that is, how can they teach anything ????
I felt my job was to convey God's word to people, not the Watchtower's word. Many times Elders told me they did not recognize the talk I gave, they had given one from the same outline, but it was very different to mine. I never gave out anything but upbuilding stuff, no cajoling, or mind control stuff at all.
In the end I refused to give any more PT's , mainly because the outlines contained no spiritually upbuilding content at all, even though (blowing my horn) surrounding Congos sent requests for me to visit again.
WT/JW land is spiritually a lifeless desert.
I am glad I left, my life is better spent elsewhere.
this strikes me as an important question.
in my short time on this forum it strikes me that many contributors are quite open about keeping a foot in both camps.
some are apparently even elders, serving in positions of authority within their respective congregations.
For me it was just impossible to continue door knocking when the 1914 doctrine fell apart for me, I am just too honest, I cannot tell or live a lie.
Today I was given £5.00 too much in my change, I walked back and gave it to the shop-keeper.
It would have been possible to continue for a while with just magazines, and not the awful lying "Bible Teach" book, but once the 1914 thing was clearly wrong, the whole house of cards fell down, and I could no more promote the WT than promote paedophilia. (I know, one and the same in a way).
Many of us have faded and not totally lost family, conditional friends who judge you as weak or a spiritual danger will disappear, but they ain't worth keeping anyway.
If your wife or husband is well in, then I am sorry for you, you may have to live a lie for a while, but keep sawing away at their chains that bind them to the WT, they are not made of hardened steel, they are flimsy.
