  a high court judge has ruled for the first time that the relationship between a catholic priest and his bishop is akin to an employment relationship.. victims of clerical sexual abuse will find it easier to bring compensation claims against the catholic church after a judge ruled it can be held responsible for the wrongdoings of its priests.. in a test case, heard on tuesday at the high court, mr justice macduff gave a decision in favour of a woman, known as jge, who claims she was sexually assaulted by a portsmouth priest at a children's home in hampshire.. the judge said although there was no formal contract between the church and the priest, the late father baldwin, there were "crucial features" that should be recognised.. "he was provided with the premises, the pulpit and the clerical robes.

  The WT does all it can to distance itself from individual congregations and individual Elders if they smell litigation coming. The problem for them ,if this is upheld on Appeal against the RCC, is that they are SO very similar to the RCC.

  They appoint Elders,MS, Pioneers etc. they train them, and then send them out into the community with authority vested in them by the WT, which will even provide an I.D card stating this for them if they ask their COBOE.

  It could be argued that the WT's responsibility extends to all baptised JW's as they have claimed that all are "Ordained Ministers".

  I can think of a number of ways that they can try to wriggle out of this, I will not write them here in case I am giving the WT Legal Dept ideas, but wriggle they will try, if called to account.

  I am far from a Newbie I guess, but I must give a "good witness" (boy did that hurt to write ! JW speak is crap!) about my experience.

  When I discovered this site I was planning suicide due to depression brought on by years of being a JW, then discovering it was total crap, so my whole world view had to change, and brought on by some other factors.

  I had worked out how to do it, and how to minimise the effect on my family, I was that low, rock bottom.

  I read for days on here, lots of old posts etc and suddenly my eyes were open, but more importantly I began to have a feeling that I was worth something, that I owed it to others to live, and if I could, help them be free of the cult.

  Slowly I improved, and happiness returned in small measure, and then grew as I began to post on here, and I was helped more and more.

  So thank you, thank you, dear Flipper and all the posters on here ,past and present, you saved my life, you gave me a life.

  The "Truth" is the extremely ironic misnomer that JW's use to describe their Cult and its worship of the Cult's Governing Body.

  (The Mormons use the same word for their cult)

  To answer the thread title literally, hundreds of posters on here have convinced countless people to leave the JW/WT Org.

  A vast number who have since left, if not physically , then mentally, have done so by reading the excellent stuff on here.

  We started as merely readers on here for whatever reason, we were "in" then, but we left, because of the good people who post on JWN.

  Personally, I do not know of any sucesses I may have had, I have spoken to a number of JW's and told them about JWFacts.com and this site, so I may have helped some, I do hope so, to be free of the cult is worth more than gold.

  Thanks for posting Barbara and you other contributors, very much appreciated.

  Could any that have direct access to Steve Unthank pass on our heartfelt gratitude for all he has done ?

  This will have ramifications around the Globe and will work to protect children and the vulnerable from the many predators and paedophiles who lurk within the Jehovah's Witness religion.

  Even if the cases are set aside in December, we will have an opportunity, not to be missed or misused, for a mediafest that will alert the public to the problems within the WT and cause a seachange in the WT's attitude and practice.

  Well done to all invoved, especially Steve.

  Welcome Ilikecheese, if I ever change my screen name it may well become Cheeseismydownfall, I eat so much of the lovely stuff, from all around the world, that I am a true Wobble !

  I was born in to the cult in 1950 and did not leave, finally, until 2008. What forced me to walk was the worship demanded by the Governing Body, who put themselves in the place of Jesus totally, and in the place of God the Father frequently.

  O.K they call it "loyalty" and "submission" etc but they are demanding, ever more so in a shrill voice, worship.

  I never swallowed all the wacky doctrines or the crazy commands to lead my life in certain ways, and as the years rolled by I found more and more that I could not go along with. In common with others, since leaving I have discovered everything about the WT and believe me, they are custodians of nothing that is true that is unique to them.

  The "Truth" would have a unique doctrine to distinguish it from all the other faiths, a doctrine that was supportable from the Bible.

  The JW/WT religion has no such thing.

  Please get your BF to read "Crisis of Conscience" by Raymond Franz followed by Stephen Hassans 2 books.

  Thanks mate, my son is in Perth working at the moment, he was never a baptised JW, and loves life in Oz, I guess he may very well stay there for good.

  I just thought there was a chance you were one of my fellow Kentish (JW) Rebels from my youth.

  Maybe when Simon updates this site again at some point we will be able to easily update our stuff and keep everyone more informed.

  I have enjoyed your contributions to this site, I went back and read a lot, so please keep joining in !
