  Charity begins at home

  i wanted to get this down in type before the thought is lost.. this afternoon, i gave two hours of my time to help a local charity raise money by packing groceries in a supermarket.

  the charity provide support to families who have a child affected by a disability that, well, let's just say it's close to my heart.

  as i drove the twenty minute journey to the supermarket in question, i struggled with some feelings which i understand are part of something called dissociative disorder, sometimes experienced as part of post traumatic stress disorder.

  Well done Mickey ! It is therapeutic to volunteer, I have done a fair bit of late, and all my fellow volunteers have been such lovely people too, and great fun !

  And the generosity of the British public is wonderful to behold ! you can tell that for many they are giving the "widows mite",

  (small value coin, not her little child !) they are not well off people, but ordinary folk who are just good, caring, giving people.

  I hope your life settles down soon, to a routine of doing what makes you feel good, which I know will, in turn, benefit others.

  Do You Agree That Being A JW=Never Growing To Your Full Potential?

  soooo many witnesses that i knew of had great potential to be somebody, to do something in their lives and instead, they simply existed in a way of life that never really ever gave them back anything in return.

  so sad, when you think of the waste!.

  Yes.

  Unless your full potential happens to be ending up as a member of a high-control and mind -controlling cult that does all your thinking and information gathering for you. There probably are some who would never have made it to a higher plane.

  If we make a contribution now, we are merely standing on the shoulders of giants.

  I agree too, that the religion has morphed so much from the late 90's till now that even to reason with the old guard who have been in it since God was a boy, it is impossible to get them to consider the ludicrous claims about 1919 etc. They have had more than a decade of practicing the relgion based on blind faith alone, no proof or facts to back it up, and those that have come in, or grown up in it, since the mid 90's, have always done it on blind faith.

  Exactly Cedars, even when I was a practising JW I used to laugh at how they were told to think, from Rutherfords time, that the world gave a flying f**k about them and their religion.

  My son tells me that in his fairly small circle of friends , there is a majority who have never heard of JW's , and this after over 100 years of preaching in this area !

  And when I say never heard of, I mean they don't have a clue who you are talking about.

  JW's don't have to lie to cover up about their real selves, they are not on the radar !

  So sad, my thoughts are with the family, friends and those that loved these poor young ladies, it was a few years ago, but the pain must return for all of them in early December much more intensely than the pain they still feel on a daily basis.

  I see that the killer, Marc Lepine,was the victim of abuse as a child, maybe we should do more as a society to help abuse victims to survive their ordeal. I am not making excuses at all, but looking for ways to prevent further pointless violence.

  Here in the U.K we have just opened our first clinic for stalkers, as often such men go on to kill the female they are stalking, I hope it prevents violence.

  Some women do perpetrate violent acts, suicide bombings for example, but men are usually behind such things. The thinking of men needs fixing, stalkers, misogynists, wife beaters, believers in a violent god, all need their minds fixing, they are mentally diseased, to steal a phrase.
