The similarities between what Birrell did and the WT words, in intent, should be drawn to the attention of investigating officers.

by hotspur inrecent news item in the uk.
this guy received a 8 month jail sentence which case was prosecuted under "hate crime" laws.
this is a very similar situation to the recent case that cedars, amelia, cantleave and others have pursued in hampshire with the police.

I wore a beard from 1975 till 1988, whilst serving as a MS and giving P/talks, even away ones.
Nobody said anything about it till they wanted to use me on a C.A , then I had to shave it off or not be used, as it was not any great shakes to me, I shaved it off, intending to grow it back sometime. I haven't been allowed to by my wife since the grey started coming through, she hates grey beards.
I just love Wontleaves reasoning on the matter, take note those of you still "in", his reasoning can be applied to a lot of the control, and can take their power away.
Especially it is good to call them on the old "stumbling" rubbish, are they honestly telling you that someone will give up being a JW because a guy wears abeard or a sis. wears slacks ??
If it is not enough of an issue to stop them being a JW, they are not "stumbled".

Attention Born in Lurkers
by stuckinamovement indo you feel that something has changed within god's organization?
have you noticed that in the past several years there has been a more authoritarian spirit displayed in the publications and from the platform?
i am in the beginning stages of a fade away and wanted to express my thoughts.

This thread deserves a BTTT every couple of months for the benefit of newcomers.
I was born in, all my family are in, I was in for 58 years,an active well known preacher in my community, due to always going where the people were, the street, the market etc. Appointed man in the congregation, respected and opinions sought on all sorts of questions and problems etc etc
Yet I examined the "Truth", and found it not to be so, in all conscience, as a supporter of Truth, I could no longer stay in the JW religion.
Read on here and elsewhere , "You shall find the truth, and the truth will set you free"

Upset my mom. :(
by under_believer inlast weekend, my parents had the kids and my wife and i had a whole weekend just to ourselves.
it was great; we did nothing the entire time except relax and enjoy the silence.. last night we went to pick up the kids.
my mom made dinner, and we ate and visited, and i sadly got into it with my mom and ended up really upsetting her.

Well done for stating the truth, I hope your Mum is not the sort to get too upset.
I have determined not to carry on biting my tongue when my JW family come out with utter nonsense, I think in the past I have been too sensitive to their feelings, whereas they are not sensitive at all to mine, they carry on as though I still believe in some way, when they know I don't.
It does them good to be exposed to reality, they won't get it anywhere else.
For example, an academic has just stated (if I can find the ref. i will post it later) that we are now living in the most peaceful time in human history !!!!!!
As he said, you can turn on the T.V and hear about conflict in many places, but actual all out wars are not raging all over the place, and the percentage of the human race involved in war and mayhem is now very small.
You won't see his words quoted in a WT or Awk. will you ?

It's the closest thing to the Truth...
by garyneal inthis is what my jw wife has been saying as of late when it seems like she has no way to defend the doctrines of 1914, blood, as well as their false predictions, etc.. i've seen on this board where others have encountered this come back as well.
it seems that the witnesses are getting a little slack and it makes me wonder how they can justify their position of their religion being the only true religion.. first off, being the "closest thing to the truth" implies that the truth itself is known.
therefore, if the truth is known, why settle for being in a religion that is 'the closest thing to it?

The disciples did not go on, in the name of Jesus, to make firm predictions that proved untrue, which is what the WT has done.

Which Bible doctrines are incontestably established on scriptural evidence alone?
by bats in the belfry injust asking: is it just the 10 commandments?
or jesus' teachings of the beatitudes?.

I don't quite understand your question. I don't know of any doctrine that is incontestably established.

I am the closest you can get to being a virgin. Makes as much sense as their "closest to the truth" .
The problem is they swallow the WT line about "as the light gets brighter, we refine our religion", if it needs refining it sure ain't pure.
Most main stream, and most smaller churches, don't make a big thing about having the whole story and having everything right and everybody else is totally wrong, they just feel that where they differ, they are right on those points. The LDS (Mormons) call their cult /religion the "Truth" too.
Just 'coz they keep calling it that, it don't make it so.
Ask your wife if they ,as well as having the truth (well, mostly) do they have the Holy spirit ? Then point out Jesus' words at John 16 v12 &13
How could " that one" only give them partial truth ? "he will guide you in to ALL the truth " so 1925 ? 1975 ? not H.S then, so when did He start giving them the truth ?
"He will declare to you the things coming " so when is the Big A then ?

Whos is King of North?
by sparki ini think it's iran.. they're straight up crazy wackos whos main goal is to create caliphate, world under one islamic law.
they actually believe they can accomplish this by causing great tribulation themselves with nuclear attack.. according to their belief, when theres great tribulation in the world, allah will come down and destroy non-muslims and will bring paradise.
so if they blow up nuke, it will speed up the process.

Even if the book of Daniel were in truth in any way prophetic, what a huge conceit to think it applies in our lifetime !
