  Does Knowledge of Evil Condemn Us?

  ordinarily i would post this topic in the "bible research" forum, but i found the following on the "friends" forum, in the "tree of what" thread, so i will leave it here.. achristian explains,.

  [when] free people have a knowledge of evil they always, at least briefly, consider doing evil.

  and, even having evil thoughts for a brief fleeting moment makes people less righteous than god.

  So if I dont believe this, I'm not a Christian?

  I know heaps of Christians who dont believe the above...I was one.

  as the Philistines. It is from them that the term Palestine is derived.

  Recent archeological evidence apparently disputes this claim. What the Scholars are saying now is that there was no great kingdom of David...there was no great kingdom of Solomon. There were the tribes of Judah and Israel etc, but they were largely indistinguishable from all the other tribes there. Judah and Israel eventually rose up out of all the tribes there and came to dominate the area.

  When a corruptible person gains a mere intellectual knowledge of evil he is immediately corrupted by it. For he then immediately considers the possibility of acting in an evil way. And, as Faithful pointed out, Jesus clearly indicated in Matthew 5:28 that merely thinking of committing an evil act is itself an evil act. Thus a mere intellectual knowledge of evil can and does corrupt us.

  When a person gains knowledge of evil he is corrupted by that knowledge.

  Jesus was human

  Jesus had knowledge of evil

  Jesus must have been corrupted therefore...

  hmmm, I'm expecting you to answer that your a trinitarian or something...

  Should US/UK hit Iraq???

  wondered what the consensus was.

  here in the uk, blair seems set to support bush in hitting iraq but there is not wholesale support in the uk.

  there is some dissent in other countries.

  As far as the Palestinians go, the whole thing is based on myth. The West Bank was Jordanian, Gaza was Egyptian. There has never been a "Palestinian" people. You can make a pretty good case that most of them are really Jordanians.

  there were no 'Jordanians' before last century either. There were Arabs though. That piece of land over there has been carved up so mant times recently it aint funny

  The fact that palestine as a state hasn't existed is irrelevant. Not the point.

  I mean, why didn't they hit back in the 80's when he was really dangerous????...oh he was a friend then, forgot!!!

  Iraq has had the shit bombed out of it for the last 10 years. They are subject to one of the most extreme sanctions in history. UNSCOM, as Richard Butler has said, pretty much dismantled their weapons capacity until they were kicked out. They aint what they were in the 80's.

  But it looks like the US wants to do it...so be it. Glad i'm not an Iraqi peasant.

  Who does the US want to replace Sadam with. Democracy...hardly. The majority of population in Iraq are Shi-ite. Cant have the Shi-ites siding with shi-ite dominate Iran. This is One of the reasons why they didn't support the Shi-ite uprising against Sadam in 91 and turned their backs and let Sadam kill his own people. They want to replace Sadam with another dictator...one that is west friendly like Sadam was. One of the reasons is so they can have access to the 2nd largest oil fields in the world. They are currently talking to a few generals, i believe. One, i know, is a war criminal.

  God sure has a temper

  But in his fierce anger he seems to have forgotten that he and his great pal Joshua were breaking a commandent.

  Deuteronomy 24
  16 Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.

  *Obviously none of Achan's daughters were virgins. They would have survived otherwise...

  Marrying a Captive Woman
  10 When you go to war against your enemies and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, 11 if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her, you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails 13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife.

  They were kept as Sex slaves...yes?

  It is very nice that the woman is allowed to mourn her father for a full month. Her mother also. No need for her to mourn for her children, Israelites only ever took virgins. The rest were vermin and done away with as Numbers 31 tells us...

  36 The half share of those who fought in the battle was:

  337,500 sheep, 37 of which the tribute for the Lord was 675;
  38 36,000 cattle, of which the tribute for the Lord was 72;
  39 30,500 donkeys, of which the tribute for the Lord was 61;
  40 16,000 people, of which the tribute for the Lord was 32.

  This is the plunder done by Gods main man moses.

  They made sure they got themselves 32000 virgins...so they can rape later, I suppose? I mean, what else would they do with them! But apparently the LORD also wanted in on the action. He got a tribute of 32 virgins. What for?????

  my question:

  Were they just supposed to be a human sacrifice....or did God intend to have sex with them as well? Seriously, what other use could he have had for 32 virgins?
