Are you sick of conspiracy nuts?.....9/11
by Witness 007 inyes apparently the staff at the twin towers on 9/11 didn't notice the explosives strapped to all the beams on each floor......of course a plane fully loaded with jet fuel going so fast it nearly flew through the building {blew out the otherside} would not be enough to cause a collapse.
the building were glowing red!
people jumped due to the heat and smoke.

The End?
by lostandconfused ingrowing up i remember always hearing, "the end will come when the preaching work is finished?".
then it was, "the end will come when there are no more annointed on earth".
now i hear it's when the "generation is gone" but oh wait...there's now new light about an "overlapping of 2 generations??".

Awen, your entire post is an oxymoron. To summarize: We should be grateful that our benevolent god hasn't yet committed the beautiful atrocity that he will eventually commit. We should be thankful for every agonizingly torturous day that we endure before he eventually brings us into the real life by murdering millions or billions of men women and babies (so many millions of babies!) to bring about the new system. How dare those infidels not believe us when we said the world would end before those that saw the events of 1914 would die - Oh crap - scratch that. We need to start over...
It has NOTHING to do with serving for a date. It has to do with the JW's making testable, falsifiable, and therefore scientific claims that they were god's one and only channel. Those claims were: 1) that the bible points to 1914 as a pivotal year due to the Jews being taken into Babylonish exile in 606 B.C.E. (Later changed to 607 when it was pointed out to them that they were terrible at math). False. This has been proven to have happened in 586 - 587 B.C.E., with not a single shred of evidence for 607.
I was going to go on, but realy, what's the point. If you don't get it, I'm not going to convince you. Enjoy you're delusion. Just think about this: When you converted, there were probably solid reasons for that. Do those reasons still exist? Not one of mine do. Not one.

Lovers becoming friends
by JRK inplease help me understand the dynamics of it.
how do you go from being intimate to becoming buddies?
i have always been better at being a friend than being in a relationship.

I rarely post here anymore, but I still lurk farely often. This thread got to me because I'm currently going through the same thing. I fell in love with her when she was 14 and I was 17. I felt guilty about having feelings for someone that wasn't "ready to be married" so instead I married someone else, mainly because this other girl was very pretty and a pioneer.
Fifteen years later I fell back in love with her when we were both going through our divorces at the same time. I helped her escape the JW's. We dated for three years. We were engaged. It felt like a storybook ending. But there was something wrong. That something turned out to be me. I wasn't ready to be married again. In the end it was her that pointed out the harsh truth about that. It broke her heart, and mine, but I had to agree. My first marriage had broken something within me. I don't know if I will ever be able to go through that again.
So now we're friends. Best friends actually. She is my favorite person in the world. We have shared so much, helped each other through such difficult times. I wouldn't stay friends with just any former girlfriend. But she is so much more then that. I can't imagine my life without her. She is currently dating a very good man. While it is difficult, sometimes painful, to see her with someone else, I am happy for her. The pain is worth it for the friendship that we have.
I obviously don't know the particulars of the dynamic that you have with your Ex. I would say that if it isn't a deep friendship, just an ex lover that is hard to let go of, then just be strong and make a clean break. You will be better off and heal more quickly in the long run. But if she is someone special, perhaps a lifelong friend like mine, then do your best to make the transition. A good friend is one of the most important things we can hope to have in this life.

Wachtower says 97% of teens masturbate....is it realistic that 100% Witness teens don't?
by Witness 007 in"young people ask" book admits 97% of youths masturbate...to put it into perspective, it's like saying 97% of the worlds population own a phone or a t.v!!
so is it realistic to believe these witnesses going thru puberty and teenage years won't on penalty of death?.
i always thought, if nearly 100% of teens do it isn't it normal?.

The society's position is even crazier than what has already been stated, at least it used to be. The "Your Youth" book equates masturbation with homosexuality:
Your Youth (1976) p.39 Chapter 5 Masturbation and Homosexuality
HOMOSEXUAL PRACTICES
9 Weakly giving in to sexual desires by masturbation will certainly not give you strength when faced with a situation tempting you to commit fornication-or even homosexuality. Just the opposite, it cultivates wrong thinking and wrong desire. In fact, masturbation can lead into homosexuality. In such instances the person, not satisfied with his lonely sexual activity, seeks a partner for mutual sex play.
10 This happens much more frequently than you may realize. Contrary to what many persons think, homosexuals are not born that way, but their homosexual behavior is learned. And often a person gets started when very young by playing with another's sexual parts, and then engaging in homosexual acts. (source www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk/masturbation.html )
As if just feeling guilty wasn't bad enough, they made impressionable young teens question their own sexual orientation!
I had to deal with this nonsense, not as a teenager, but as a young married man of about twenty-two. I had been married for about two years when my wife caught me looking at internet porn (still images via dial-up in those days). She cried and cried. She thought it was so perverted and disgusting. Then, taking her cue from the WTS in all their wisdom, she asked the question "Are you gay?" I am not an effeminate man. I had never given any indication of leanings that direction. Her one reason to ask that was the above quote and others like it from the Watchtower. How sick is that? It ruined my marriage for years to come. She even brought it up in our divorce, even though that was more than ten years after that incident. Their perverted writings wrecked an otherwise happy young marriage.

She shows too much cleavage. What should I say to her?
by Iamallcool ini met a gorgeous lady yesterday and she shows too much cleavage.
i see her facebook page, all of her pictures has cleavage in them, i would not want to date her because she shows too much all the time.
i am tempted to tell her to cover up her cleavage, she might not like me telling her that.

Before you talk to her, you should send friend requests to all of her Facebook friends and try and garner support for your point of view. That way you can say "Your friend Jenny and your sister Carol agree with me that you show too much cleavage". She will appreciate the consensus and will be impressed with your diligent research.

I would definitley tell this woman that you met yesterday to change how she dresses. I would then hand her a list of other things she should change in order to be worthy of dating you, along with things you will and won't do sexually and what you expect from her in this respect. Women love to know who's in charge. Good luck.

Will Religion Become Extinct?
by satinka inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12811197.
religion may become extinct in nine nations, study saysby jason palmer, science and technology reporter, bbc news, dallas.
a study using census data from nine countries shows that religion there is set for extinction, say researchers.. the study found a steady rise in those claiming no religious affiliation.. the team's mathematical model attempts to account for the interplay between the number of religious respondents and the social motives behind being one.. the result, reported at the american physical society meeting in dallas, us, indicates that religion will all but die out altogether in those countries.. the team took census data stretching back as far as a century from countries in which the census queried religious affiliation: australia, austria, canada, the czech republic, finland, ireland, the netherlands, new zealand and switzerland.. nonlinear dynamics is invoked to explain a wide range of physical phenomena in which a number of factors play a part.. one of the team, daniel abrams of northwestern university, put forth a similar model in 2003 to put a numerical basis behind the decline of lesser-spoken world languages.. at its heart is the competition between speakers of different languages, and the "utility" of speaking one instead of another.. "the idea is pretty simple," said richard wiener of the research corporation for science advancement, and the university of arizona.. "it posits that social groups that have more members are going to be more attractive to join, and it posits that social groups have a social status or utility.. "for example in languages, there can be greater utility or status in speaking spanish instead of [the dying language] quechuan in peru, and similarly there's some kind of status or utility in being a member of a religion or not.".

Religion will be more and more margianalized. Twenty years ago research was hard. Verifying a claim was hard. With the internet those things are trivial. Twenty years from now those things will be virtually instantaneous and almost subliminal. Each generation becomes more technically literate and more educated. This is happening at an exponential level. Soon the myths of the past will be as much associated with the oldest and least technically literate generation as handwritten letters are today. There will simply be no place in modern society for those beliefs. This wll happen much sooner in the first world than the third. I don't believe the total eradication of religion will happen in the next fifty years. I do believe that the next fifty years will see religion become irrelevant in the first world and margianalized in the third as the older generations die off and younger generations have more and more ubiquitous access to accurate information.

To My Fellow Skeptics
by TD inokay...i'm a hardcore skeptic and i admit it.
i have no use for the supernatural at all.. having said that though, once in a great, great while i'm truly, honestly stumped.
one instance was a book i read in the early 1970's entitled, arigo: surgeon of the rusty knife.

I am not familiar with this particular "psychic surgeon". I think a detailed explanation of how he performs this feat would be quite interesting. I don't believe, however, that simply because it hasn't been explained means that a supernatural explanation is likely. He is performing a common illusion that has been repeated by numerous faith healers and magicians all over the world, the most famous of them these days being Oprah's new darling "John of God".
It's like the trick where a woman is cut in half and then put back together unharmed. It is a very convincing trick if done by a skilled magician. Any magician can tell you multiple ways that the illusion is performed. But if a magician comes along and performs it in a way other than the usual methods, and no one can figure out how he does it, I doubt many would come to the conclusion that he is the one human alive that can actually cut a person in half and than put them back together using supernatural forces.
