If you have left, how would you treat witnesss you run into ?
by lancelink ini da'ed myself back in october 2008.. i also work at a local community college, where the witnesses have a booth set up during the winter months and usually there are 3 -4 people.
just sitting there counting their time.. they are located in a student lounge area where i need to cross several times a day.. my question is this: would you just ignore them totally,.
would you approach them if they made eye contact, or would you just approach them whenever and say hello ?

would get some of the student curious about their so called "worldwide brotherly love"
i figure that since I work there, any type of WT rule regarding their opinions of someone who has left the org will not work.
They are in MY
environment, and if it bothers them well go back out in service and talk to people doing the door to door work.
I'm curious as to how many of you would deal with this situation ?

Did You Reach Out For "Privileges"?
by minimus inas one who grew up "in the truth", i recognized that the most important goal i could ever have was "to be used" in jehovah's service (aka the organization).
when i was a kid i pioneered every summer for at least one month, sometimes more.
i was the timekeeper for the theocratic ministry school as a child.

One time the elders asked if I would be interested in reading the wt on Sunday, and I said sure thing !
The next week the SAME elders came up to me and asked what I thought of the public reading, I said that it was fine.
So he said, "well you need to increase your answering during the meetings"
I looked at him , said I'll think about it, and he never approached me again.

Our Bible Study with the Jehovahs Witnesses (Part 2)
by garyneal inwell, my wife and i returned to the jw elders house for another bible study continuing the series in marriage.
that study went pretty well, poking fun at each other concerning our marital issues and all.
nothing in that particular study would seem to be bad or anything for after all, one cannot argue against the virtues of being faithful to your spouse and the marriage arrangement (at least for christians that is).

I truly enjoy your posts, very logical way of looking at the JW belief system.

wow they actually care?
My Mother died a year ago, she was a baptised JW for thirty years.
My parents moved away to another state ten years ago.
When she died about only five people just sent a card. NO ONE stopped over to "console" me, or even called on the phone.
I'm happy to see that they are more focused on total strangers instead of people from their own congregation.

I have a situation here that I would appreciate your comments on.
I was a JW for thirty years, (RC before), married and raised my kids within the boundaries of this religion.
About five years ago, my wife and I realized that it was not the truth we thought it was all these years so we left.
.
OK, at this point of my life I backed up, looked around and took a deep breath.
My wife on the other hand started to study with the Mormons; she got baptized and jumped in the deep end.
A year ago my Mom died suddenly, and that shook me to the core even further as to what god and his purposes are. I questioned more and more what I had been taught over the years.
Meanwhile my wife is chugging away express train style in her new religion, and it seems everything, and everybody that is not wrapped up in Mormonism is not taken very seriously.
Her father had Alzheimer’s for six years and he died two years ago. It was a very soul-searching time for the both of us and I allowed her to deal with her religious issues in a way that was beneficial for her well being.
My dad lives across the country, I saw him last October, and he is becoming a “super witness” all of a sudden. Whenever we talk on the phone all I hear is how close the end is, and how I should get back to the KH and get involved. The end could come at any minute! Just look at how messed up the world is, CERTAINLY the end will come soon. This is coming from a man who was a textbook example of a half-hearted / doubting witness for over 25 years.
Suddenly I amnoticing how I am right in the middle of a perfect storm of religious zealots.
My two sons just roll their eyes when they hear the stories, and shake their heads regarding their mother.. Growing up as JW has made them very sensitive regarding how someone can push their beliefs over on others and how people can become “blinded” by a religious organization.
Dealing with my mom’s death is one of the most difficult things that I have done, yet it seems that religious belief and viewpoints is throwing salt in the wound from close family members.
My question is, how have any of you dealt with situations like this ?

I am not afraid of the organization.
What I fear and dread is the influence they have on people, and how this power clouds their thinking ability.
