  Encouraging Service Talk

  i remember a talk that was delivered at an assembly a while back that was repeated many times in my old hall and i remember it had a line in it that had one of those effects on people like they would go into a silent trance.

  shyness is a very real block to enjoying service. Unless I had some extroverted person with me I always hated it.

  It was easier to allow my partner to talk , I'm quite the shy one in real lfe.

  This ignorant a-hole told my son in front of me and everyone else that he would help him in the future with his talks 'cause he no longer had a father

  but after I da'ed myself I started to pray, and for the first time in years I felt that God was listening to me

  wow, my head is still spinning.

  let me start from the beginning.. i got baptized in 1978, my sister in 1982. she ended up getting df'ed for fornication after one year (going out and living with a guy at 18 years old).. so according the the org.

  belief system, there has been hardly any contact with her all these years.. ok, now fast forward, my wife and i da'ed ourselves one year ago.. now i find out that my dad keeps in contact with my dfed sister, yet he ignores my family and my other two sisters (who never became witnesses, they say all the dysfunction over the years).. i find it funny how he picks and chooses what to believe.. because i have left the jw's,,,, i'm basically nobody.. but my sister who left in a blaze of glory by smoking, fornicating, and turning her back on the org.

  I tried reaching out for several years, but since I would not become part of the "good old boys club" I was consistantly

  overlooked.

  I find a type of twisted satisfaction in seeing them now acually begging brothers to consider reaching out.

  Glad to be done with this garbage !

  Do you miss God?

  if you are one of the posters on here who has got to the point where you do not believe in god to any great extent, do you miss "him".

  i find that i rarely used to ask god for anything, or load him up with my problems, everybody elses were far more urgent, but i did used to feel moved to praise him when i saw the beauties of creation, a sunset etc.. i now feel an urge to still do that, but do not believe anyone is listening, do you get moments like that ?.

  I once read on this site of a person who equated finding God according to the jw belief system this way this way:

  we all would do anything to help our children grow up and become decent people.

  Which one of us would punish, and threaten to kill our kids if they did not learn everything that they could about us as parents ?

  The wt has given God this same mentality, if he were a man he would have been locked up.
