Like I said, they follow the laws of the land. At the time of the first incident the laws protected all confessions made to religious leaders. A religious leader would have been breaking a law to report to the police without the family consent. The family also didn’t report it to authorities back then either. Everyone was under the impression that it had stopped upon the confession being made. They found out more recently that the abuse was STILL going on. Just recently the law changed that tells that religious leaders must report to child protective services. The elders turned them into DCFS, and DCFS turned them into authorities. Like I said, I have witnessed them turning others into DCFS for any suspected abuse. You can’t fully believe everything you read on the internet. He was not a Jehovahs Witness Priest (even though they are called Elders not priests). And trust me, when an elder is informed of child abuse, they turn them into DCFS, and inform the family of their right to seek justice through the authorities. There are so many rumors about how it is handled, but I have witnessed first hand them turning people into the authorities for any kind of child abuse. They fully follow the laws of the land.Hide or report thisBut now, the civil trial against the wt society and local kingdom hall elders, ( who did not follow the child abuse laws ) will be gaining traction this year. One of the elders was a school teacher during this time, he was a mandated reporter and failed to do what was necessary because saving the society was the most important thing to do. should be interesting !

It got me thinking about when The Empire Strikes back came out, it was the second movie ( 1980). I went to a showing with a group of uber jw's, and after the movie ended, they all were talking about how George Lucas better hurry up and finish the next installment. They wanted to see what happened before Armageddon came. It was totally unreal to me how fanatical the witnesses were about this fact, they were a mix of young people and several older, established in the religion type folks. I was 20 at that time.
It now has been 39 years since that episode,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
That was one of the first inklings I had that something was wrong with the thought process of these so called "religious" people .
Does anyone else have a situation where you realized that your local group of jw's had some unreal thinking ?

Science and Watchtower's astounding ignorance
by Diogenesister inwell these goof balls at jwbroadcast apparently think the study of pure science means not having any "practical application".
oi vey.
sanderson may speak russian but he is so ill educated he appears to think that researching a subject and formulating a theory about it means that's the end of it - in other words he's saying it has no practical use.

I work at a college where the witnesses put their cart up for display once a week. I should forward this message to the powers that be at school. Telling them that the witnesses are going against what the purpose of the
college is

When was it time for you to walk away from your congregation meetings and the WTBTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.

my parents were in since I was 12, and they helped in any way they could with the hall, assemblies, and new people. They retired down south, and when my Mom died only 5 people contacted me or sent cards, not one elder was in the mix. At that time I was slowly beginning to fade away, but after seeing that "absolute conditional love", I made a beeline out of the org. I wrote a letter to the elders, and new York explaining that I was out, and wanted nothing to do with this religion. I heard later that The elders ignored my letter, thinking that I was just depressed and would soon snap out of it. But when they got a message from the corporate office, that really lit a fire underneath them and one month later, they were basically falling over each other to get in contact with me trying to be encouraging. I ignored the whole crew and walked away with absolutely no regrets.

Joe Biden and Push-up Contests
by minimus inin the past, the former vp has challenged trump to a push-up contest and today he did again , only this time to an 83 year old man who told biden that he thought he was too old to run for president.
it appears biden called him fat and unlike the man he wasn’t sedentary.
then he challenged the man to a push-up contest.

Hypocritical elders
by JimmyYoung ini used to work with an elder every day for several years.
one thing that helped me out of the cult was his hypocrisy.
our work was in construction and it would often run us late for meetings.

In my old hall there was an elder ( refrow, renfroe ?) who watched the young guys and lived for the chance to criticize someone for breaking one of the wt rules. My sons would at times talk to young teenage sisters and like a hawk he would appear and nip any conversations in the bud. Several years later, an ex-jw lady we know told us about how Jeff R. called her teenaged daughter several times a week asking her to meet him at a local restaurant to talk. Just her and him, nobody else. Since he was an elder, nobody questioned his motives. Last I heard, this "shining example" of wt leadership is now the presiding overseer.
