instead of relying on the organization when the question of charity comes up, why not think for yourself? There is a scripture that tells something like " the right hand doesn't know what the left one is doing" God gave us all free will, you should never feel that this gift vanishes as soon as the jw's come into your life. I do alot of travel in the chicago, Illinois area, and I make a point to donate some money to one organization every time I'm down there. Homeless vets, retired vets, other religions) The wt and their view of charity is the furthest thing from my mind. Give it a try sometime, it really is not that hard

they want to get together and discuss how to get me active again.

well, one of the elders had the flu, so this visit never happened.
They claim that they would like to "reactivate " me, (yes those words were used)
Well, I'm not a credit card, that statement really ticked me off somewhat.
Hopefully this the end of their visits. -

Who has lost faith?
by logic&reason ini am curious about who (after leaving) went on to other religions vs. lost faith completely.
once i started questioning the wt society, i began to question everything.
as jw's we are taught from childhood up that other religions are false - so it seems easy, after elliminating the last one, to be rid of religion altogether.. .

yes, I think that I lost my faith several years ago,, and I never had the guts to admit it until now.
Kind of like when driving down an expressway and your absolutely sure where you are.
And then all of a sudden you realize that nothing looks familiar,,, you really are lost,
and its right in the middle of rush hour so finding out where you should be can be damn impossible. -

I don't get it. Why spend so much time and energy trying to disprove JWs? If you don't like them, go away.

Dealing with an elder
by kzjw inthiis one's long, but here's a letter i sent in open dialog with the elder of my wife's congregation...let's hear the input... i appreciate your candor, and admittedly i can see an effort to not be overbearing in your response to my questions.
my main concern is trusting the organization.
when i read john 14(the whole chapter because i"m never satified with just a verse), i don't see anything that provides for some "organization" to lead us to the salvation that we all seek in our christian walk.

"I would much rather for my family to pursue this way of life over any other"
right there, the discussion basically ran into a brick wall, that seems to be
the generic answer for questions that seem to be too hard to answer, or answers cannot be found. -

I couldn't help but think about how the passage of time can make people who make predictions look foolish.
This link from 1968 tried to say how life would be in 2008,
kind of like the wtbts !! -

Controling one's wife?
How dare those humanoids in the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger make such a demand!
wow, talk about nasty flashback, when I was reaching out for more responsibility years ago, this is exactly what the PO told
me was the reason this time why i was not appointed.
My wife is self-sufficient in many ways, not belligerent just knows what she wants, she took the lead in starting to fade,
she must have known something that I didn't notice until much later. -

I got a jesus question
by lancelink inwith the memorial season behind now, there is a question i have that in over 30 years as a jw i never got a solid answer.
jesus died for our sins; he was the perfect sacrifice, etc, etc.
i always heard how tough it must have been for god to watch his only begotten son die the way he did.

With the memorial season behind now, there is a question I have that in over 30 years as a jw I never got a solid answer.
Jesus died for our sins; he was the perfect sacrifice, etc, etc.
I always heard how tough it must have been for God to watch his only begotten son die the way he did.
Several times I remember the speaker bringing up the point “how would we as parents feel about watching our children die in front of us?
( the Armageddon scenario was used afterwards, make sure you parents are studying with your children to save them!)
Anyway, I would always think of the point that God controls everything, even a person’s life.
In fact, he brought Jesus back to life after 3 days, so he had the power to resurrect him.
My main thought here is, since God had the ability to bring him back,
would the emotional aspect be somewhat dulled because of him knowing this?
When my kids had to have surgery when they were younger, I was sad and upset,
but I knew deep down that they would be alright afterwards.
But if there was going to be no hope, the emotional aspect would have been much, much more intense.
How do you think God himself dealt with this knowledge about Jesus future?
Do you think mankind has taken the sacrifice of Jesus, and molded it to play more into our emotions?
