and i found this:
can members of the public have access to the minutes of our charity's annual general meeting?.
we recommend that charities make the minutes of the agm available to the public on request: they may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing them.
69. The minutes of trustees' meetings must be made available to all charity trustees and where necessary, to appropriate professional advisers (eg auditors). Minutes of trustees' meetings are not open documents and do not have to be made available for public inspection, unless the charity's governing document requires this. The minutes of a general meeting are usually made available to members (in the case of a charitable company they have to be) but do not have to be made available for public inspection unless the charity's governing document requires this.
Note: they do not have to be made available.

greetings - can anyone confirm for me whether these articles were officially submitted by the watchtower society to the un (to keep up their ngo membership), or did the un just use these articles and post them on their website without the society necessarily having officially submitted them?
i guess the wts had to have given their consent somehow, as a minimum.
what are the mechanics of proving one is upholding un ideals to renew their library card membership?
For almost two years now we have had WT apologists attempting to justify the Societies involvement with the U.N. I would like to ask just one question:
If the U.N. is the Wild Beast from Revelation, as they insist, could there possibly ever be a valid reason to "associate" with it?
Other questions do arise from this such as what that valid reason might be?
Also if the WT had a valid reason how do they know that the "Churches of Christendom", who they roundly condemn in their literature for exactly the same act of "fornication", did not have exactly the same reason.
If you are putting yourself forward as Gods appointed representatives on earth, and whiter than white, it must surely be a condition of that appointment that you do nothing to bring reproach upon that position.
There is absolutely no moral difference between this and "associating" with Tobacco Companies and suppliers of military equipment for possible financial gain. They are all wrong whatever criteria you use.
In my humble opinion, Gods organisation on earth today would take every conceivable action to avoid contradicting the information that they claim to receive directly from Him. The WTS does not.

is it possible that the wts comes out with 'new light' in order to hide a secret truth within the higher ranks of its organization?
mizpah,
I would like to congratulate you on being one of the most sensible and rational voices on this board in some time.
Russell is not buried in a Masons only graveyard. He did not design his own tomb or the trappings associated with it so does not know (or care) if it has Masonic connections. As you rightly point out, Masons do not have exclusive rights to the emblems they use. Because some of them have Biblical connections they are used by a variety of people in many different ways.
Try as I might I cannot obtain categorical confirmation from Masonic records that C.T. Russell was a Freemason although some evidence exists that his father might have been.

"this is not a posting to point the finger at any particular individual, but to hopefully share some relevant findings concerning apostate operation with this board.
the question of what constitutes apostasy, or rather what doesnt constitute apostasy does not proffer the obscure indeterminate answer that some opponents have assumed.
instead, it is a keenly documented scriptural truth that pries into the heart and emotional inclination of all people whether mindful of it or not.
Hi Happy Man,
The answer to your question will depend upon who you ask. If you ask a Jehovahs Witness it will be anything spoken or written, or any person, that does not agree entirely with Watchtower doctrine and dogma. Hence you can have apostate books, apostate web sites and apostate people.
This is not the dictionary definition, just the J.W.s.

it's always intresting to hear the answers you get from people about how and when the bible was formed.
many minds go only as far as believing it was simply a compilation of god ordained books that we have to this day.
below is just a small bit of information that many may not be familiar with.
Dansk,
I am not disagreeing with you. These history professors were responding to my questions about Biblical history in the ancient near east so what they said applied to all such history, wherever it was recorded, in history books or in the Bible.

Hamas,
I have to agree with you. I was talking to some history professors from our local university and their opinion is that much of ancient history cannot be proven because of the lack of verifiable contemporary evidence. They look at all of the best evidence that is available and come to an opinion based on that. Because it is based on lots of different interpretations of lots of different evidence there could be hundreds of possibilities. What you believe is based completely on your own personal interpretation of that evidence that you have been able to find or has been selectively put in front of you.
The point is that it will never be conclusive and so you cannot ever be dogmatic about your opinions.
Just my thoughts.

If I understand you correctly Pork Chop, it would also be quite alright for the Society to obtain an income from the manufacture and sale of weapons as long as it was done through a Trust?
Please correct me if I am getting this wrong.

some of you may have figured out who i am... that i am sort of undercover right now with these people.
i just will be posting more of these things as they come, but get a load of this... the article itself is of no real interest... it is their proud reaction to it i am getting at.
they are passing this article around the whole state of virginia.
Charges for literature were dropped in order to avoid paying tax on the income. What about the tax that is due on the income from the car parks? The stadium owners have to pay tax on their income from the car parks.
In the U.K. sales tax applies to both goods and services and is payable by the provider if their income exceeds a certain level. The recipients of this particular income must exceed that level so what are they doing about the tax?

Car park charges still operate in the U.K.
I have just been to an assembly (to take the wife) and there were over 2000 cars parked there at a cost of £9.00 ($15) for all three days. Single days not accepted.
This would have brought in £18,000 ($30,000) plust the contribution boxes.
It can’t cost that much to hire the football stadium (facility only).
