Tarred with the same brush
by link ini dont understand all the fuss about 607 b.c.e.
there is exactly the same amount and type of reliable and factual historical evidence that jerusalem fell to the babylonians in 607 b.c.e.
as there is to support the theory that a man named jesus christ lived at the beginning of the first century c.e.. a few million jehovahs witnesses believe the former but they are joined by tens of millions more who believe the latter.. just a thought.. link.

Any information please
by link incan anyone tell me what the jehovah,s witnesses currently believe regarding the date that cyrus destroyed the temple at jerusalem.
i asked a witness and they told me that they now believe that cyrus arrived in jerusalem in 607 bce but did not destroy the temple until 20 years later!!!!
this still makes a nonsense of 1914!!!.

Do they make it up as they go along?
by link ini havent been around here for a couple of years but i wondered if anyone would be interested in commenting on the information given at the web site: http://www.lawphil.net/judjuris/juri2003/aug2003/am_p-02-1651_2003.html.. it is extremely long but i found it interesting.
it concerns jehovahs witnesses living as man and wife without being married.
in the philippines there is no divorce so a witness cannot remarry unless they get an annulment which is extremely expensive and beyond the reach of most fillipinos.

The short answer.
by link ini live in an extended family of jehovah?s witnesses, consequently i am often asked why i "dont accept the truth".
long ago i found that it was always best to keep my answer short, to the point and non-confrontational.
those in a similar position to myself might find my usual response of interest.. all my family are aware that i did extended research into the watchtower religion at the time i studied with the witnesses.

Job Description for a G.B. member?
by link inhaving explained to my "ever loving" how you do not need money to live like a millionaire, i get told that nobody in the world works as hard as the members of the governing body.
their schedule of writing tasks, world travel and giving talks at conventions and assemblies is exhausting because it is never ending.
they never have time to draw breath before their next assignment and their busy schedules would kill many people half their age.. is this correct?

Christmas
by link ini was once told that rutherford only decided that christmas was a "no no" after he split up with his wife.
because if he could not spend christmas with his family then no one would.. it sounds far fetched but could any of the contributors to farkels giant "rutherford exposed" thread confirm that the date for the christmas ban came anywhere near rutherfords split with his wife?.

Legal Eagles
by link invarious media reports indicate that the wbts often employs the services of a large number of lawyers and i have seen it suggested that some of the top legal minds amongst them are in fact jehovahs witnesses.. since a qualified and experienced lawyer will have been trained in the art of digging out and scrutinising factual information, how come these people are jw?s?
if they applied their training, to the lest extent, to an examination of "the truth" (tm) it would quickly be seen as a load of bull puckey, even by a halfwit.
it could not possibly stand up to proper scrutiny by a person trained and qualified in the legal profession.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales
by link inin another thread outoftheorg said he was unaware that all congregations in the u.k (except scotland) were registered with the charity commission for england and wales.
the following link will take you to the first web page of the names of all these congregations.
it shows the name of the presiding overseer (correspondent), his address and often his telephone number.
