  i was setting in church and reading nahum chapter 1 and he said he used wind, earthquakes, volcanos etc.

  to punish evil men who didn't listen to his word.

  It's funny to me how the Society focused for years on earthquakes as a sign of Jesus' presence. Then in the last decade as the weather gets a little weird you hear "natural disasters" as part of the sign as well. Um show me that scripture again? The earthquakes are there, yes. But the others? What's that Brother Speculator? But aren't you just changing things to fit the current state of the world? Oh it's in the Bible? Shut up.

  i notice from comments posted that many here who post (and untold scores who lurk) are still "in".

  perhaps their social / family circles are too constricted for freedom of mind, and or, they are too afraid to rock the boat.

  or too young to strike out on their own and are dependent on jw parents for support.

  You know I always wondered why anyone would become an apostate. If you don't believe it why waste time getting others to follow your ideas? After all that's what apostates do right- try to gain followings? (LOL ) Just move on with your lives you sons of Korah! Now I see an "apostate" is simply someone who knows something's not right. And some of them just want to help others see it. Others feel it's too risky to say anything.

  Anyone got their meeting cancelled for snow or ice?

  with the big snowstorm this past weekend, did anyone get their boasting session cancelled?

  or, were they foolhardy and so stupid that, even though there was 4 feet of snow and/or the power lines were down, they decided to hold the damn thing anyway?.

  in that last study about those worthy of a kingdom isn't it interesting that they say things like "how wonderful to have anointed still left on earth during the great tribulation with us.

  they currently have nothing to do with the direction we get from the governing body.

  in fact they have no greater insight than many of the great crowd.

  In that last study about those worthy of a Kingdom isn't it interesting that they say things like "How wonderful to have anointed still left on earth during the Great Tribulation with us." Really? WHY? They currently have nothing to do with the direction we get from the Governing Body. In fact they have no greater insight than many of the great crowd. And also... in that picture on page 23 one of the anointed is portrayed as an elderly woman. So women can't be elders but they can be kings? Also in that picture who knew that Richard Nixon was of the anointed?! :)

  Is anyone else hoping for the Society to "crack down" on the friends?

  there have been a few threads speculating about possible future actions by the society, triggered in part by the "valueless things" article and losch's alleged new light re: bablylon the great.

  personally, i hope they do something crazy and make up some new unscriptural doctrines and/or rules.

  this may help some of my family members to "see the light," so to speak.

  I used to be really homophobic until I started working around gay people. Then I realized that they are human beings. It doesn't bother me now to be around them unless they start talking graphic details about their sex lives.
