Turns out they were just guys in ghost costumes. But they'd have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids!

Which Scooby Doo character are you?
by JimmyPage invelma- the brainy one, can't see without her glasses, possibly a lesbian.. fred- the leader, all-american good looks, possibly gay as well with that scarf.. daphne- the beauty, but beyond that, not particularly interesting.. shaggy- great for comedy relief, frightens easily, has a big appetite but never gains a pound, possibly a pot smoker.. scooby- beloved by kids, fighting a speech impediment, will do anything for a scooby snack..

"Christ or E.T.?" and other dumb WT crap
by JimmyPage inwhen i was a kid in the 80s i remember the wt actually warning people about going to see "e.t.
" apparently this little alien's healing powers were a real threat to true christians, causing them to forget what jesus did back in the day.
i also remember the wt dissing "star trek 2" because of the little creature that khan inserted into the ear of chekhov.

Thanks, Pirata, for pointing out the exact publication. Anybody have the E.T. one? I'd pull it up myself but I'm not at home right now.

Does anyone else find the whole Jah V Satan universal issue absurd?
by Aussie Oz inwhen i was 'in', that of course was a big thing, and i well knew all the scriptures and resonings behind it.. not long ago i saw a u tube video that took me into deepest space from the hymalian mountains and back in again.
what struck me was the shear immensity of just our own universe, let alone the rest of the known one.
i realized how tiny tiny nothing this little planet is.

Before I ever even came to this board I remember thinking about God and Satan like two little kids: "You two need to work this out between yourselves. Don't drag me into it. It's got nothing to do with me." Such a relief to no longer be burdened by this doctrine!

What's not to like? I can be pretty charismatic.
One time years ago I made a friend with a non-JW. He introduced my to his girlfriend. She quickly broke up with him and came to me for "comfort". He knocked on my door. I fully expected a fight, and he was 6'8". Instead he came in crying, saying, "I don't want to lose you as a friend, too!" WTF?
Another time I went on a cruise with a girl who was mad at me, and came back with a new girl I met on the ship. Crazy!

Did JWs teach "alcohol is OK in moderation" to justify Rutherford's boozing?
by JimmyPage ini know a lot of non-jws who try to be good christians, and for them, part of that means staying clear of alcohol- period.. so how did this "alcohol is ok" come about for jws?
i have to wonder if it wasn't originally because rutherford was constantly blitzed out of his gourd..

Yes, Blondie, I'm fully aware that the Bible agrees with alcohol in moderation. What I'm getting at is another possible motivation as to why JWs originally agreed with this.
