What about new light?
by spectromize ini just wanted to ask a question concerning the expression," new light," whenever the brothers and sisters are talking and when we suddenly see a new point in the watchtower or a new teaching from the society as far as our beliefs such as the change in doctrine like the generation teaching.
is it really accurate to say new light or just plain and simple error ?.
you see i grew up as a catholic and before i became a witness we considered our church and the pope as god's representative.

Did the Nazi colonel from "Inglourious Basterds" remind anyone else of...
by inkling in... a circuit overseer?.
that first scene, with the searingly tense, sinister, faux-friendly visit and "conversation" over the glass of milk... the loaded-gun smile, and ominous bookbag... something about his manner made think of some just horrific shepherding call.. (and no, i am not literally equating cos/elders with nazis... i am just saying the tone was reminisent, to me, of such meetings.).
[inkling].

Just saw the movie finally. I was really impressed at how Tarantino is evolving as an artist. The scalpings didn't bother me but I could have done without the baseball bat scene. The story as a whole was very involving and put me on the edge of my seat more than once.

moral support? :/
by ana_dote ini know, i know...it's all part and parcel of the whole fading thing.....but..... i missed a phone call from an unknown number tonight....oddly enough, had this been a few months ago the number would have still been programmed in my phone.
the number was to the kingdom hall i used to attend over a year ago.
i have not set foot in it since probably late april, early may, of 2009. but tonight an elder called.

May this board be a soft pillow of comfort for you. We are all tired of the Watchtower's micro-managing intrusion into our lives.

Hello!
by factfinder ini'm new here, this is my first post.
have been reading so many comments from you guys over the past few months and now i can finally comment too!.
it is amazing how long it took me to see that jw's are not god's organization and that their teachings do not really find support in the bible.. now i'm not really sure what i believe.

Alice
by Quillsky inalice, i have a sense that you've dug yourself a hole on this forum and don't know how to get out of it.. you would probably like to engage and share your stories as most of us do here, and as you've done in your child abuse thread, but you've created an antagonistic persona that makes it difficult for many to empathize with your real life concerns and experiences.. i suggest that you retire your "alice in wonderland" moniker and return as a normal poster, a jw with doubts.
many will understand, and you may make some friends..

Good advice, Q.
I think it's fascinating how people who can initially be so antagonistic to "apostates" soon realize how human we are, how fun we are, and how addicting and refreshing our company can be.
Perhaps it comes from having our real personalities suppressed for so long and now the opportunity to express ourselves fully is finally open.
They may fight us for a while, but they sure don't want to leave the board, and are often eventually won over to reality.
Here's to a future time "welcome back", Alice, whoever you may yet become.

Zen Living Part Twelve (summarized): Eating, Moving, Breathing- Maintaining a Zen Lifestyle
by JimmyPage inmaintain your meditation by committing to very short periods twice a day, then gradually working up to longer periods.. alternate sitting meditation with walking meditation to train yourself to meditate under different circumstances.. you don't have to be a vegetarian, eat brown rice, or be anyone you aren't already to live zen in your daily life.. you know you should exercise.
zen can help you cut through all the dread, pride, and other things you attach to exercise so you can "just do it".. every day, indulge in microzazen moments and stop what you are doing, breathe, and pay attention to the present moment..
