you can live zen without calling it zen.
you can call it whatever you want to call it, including nothing at all (which would be very zenlike).. zen is your life, so you can make it into whatever you want.
search for truth your own way.. zen means finding your place within the knowledge that you are you, and you are also the whole universe.. let your present moment embrace you, and you will be living zen.. .

love really is the answer.
zen living reveals that loving kindness, compassion, and the desire to relieve the suffering of others emerge naturally from a zen practice.. as the world experiences struggle, conflict, and pain, zen living can teach those who practice it how to release fear, hate, and the delusion of difference.. loving kindness can heal emotional, political, social, and spiritual separation.. we can help spread strength, power, and unity through loving kindness by practicing mindfulness every day.. .
Poor Places, recently I have been reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. One of the things that struck me right away was that he did not put Buddhism into the same category of offending religions like Christianity and Islam, but rather considered it to be more of a philosophy.
Like you, what I've studied about Buddhism has brought me great peace. My recommendation would be to go back and read all the previous threads about Zen living if you haven't already.
I really appreciate the fact that Zen philosophy is not rigid but can be molded to fit your life in your own personal way. Try meditating both on your own and in a group. Find out what feels best for you.
I absolutely do believe it is possible to develop these qualities on your own but for some a support system of peers may be more helpful. Keep reading and applying all you learn.
Namaste.

i am just wondering if we can make a list of famous people that used to be jws, i.e.
Some people that have had JW connections, but not necessarily been full fledged baptized dubs are: The Wayans brothers, the Jacksons, the Williams sisters, Mike Epps, Dave Mustaine, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ja Rule, Patti Smith, Geri Halliwell, Naomi Campbell, and Evelyn Mandela.

after almost 2 years of being wrongfully disfellowshipped and over a year after finding this site....i am starting to read crisis of conscience.
i will not lie....i am a bit nervous as to what information i will find in the book.
i have a strong feeling that i will end up crying through most of it as i will start to see the truth about the "truth".
It was an emotional book for me in that it made me angry.
Not that Ray was an angry person, quite the opposite.
The chapter that broke me was the one about the Society's long history of setting dates for the end, beginning long before 1914.
And then pretty much every chapter after that on through "In Search of Christian Freedom".
just wondering how many of us on here are musicians, what we play, and if we had witness bands and/or performed.
i have had quite a few funny moments of being in bands that wanted to be cool, but always had to nerf the edginess of any songs we played and watch the noise!
i played with different elders who loved to rock out, but when they played at a congregation party didn't even want to use overdrive of any kind!
I play guitar mostly but also have learned some bass, piano, and mandolin for multi-tracking purposes (and because I enjoy it). If you'd like to hear some of my stuff pm me.
It occured to me that it would be awesome to get several of us together and make a concept album about breaking free from the WT.
As far as this quote: "I will never master the piano and unlike you, I wouldn't think of trying to play the bass, guitar AND the mandolin in addition to the piano with the goal of getting good at ANY of them" the fact is there are many musicians out there who are talented enough to play more than one instrument and are more than good enough at each of them to entertain the masses. Take Paul McCartney, for instance. In any given concert of his he will play bass, guitar, mandolin, piano, and ukulele. I'd say his music is fairly adequate, wouldn't you?
one of my other posts mentioned briefly how the c.o.b.e.
of my "former" hall is trying to make it a rule of no football, especially for elders and servants.. of course,as a woman i would never qualify to be a servant, nor do i want to be.
but,i still enjoy watching a bit of the nfl.
They have enough trouble keeping males interested in the religion as it is. I guarantee you if they banned football the men would leave in droves. So for that reason, I say, yes, please ban football!
i have a 3-way tie,,,.
nightmare on elm street series - especially in noes2, when the gurl is running from freddie in the basement, and her feet are in goo,,, and just when he's about to catch her,,, she gets traction --- that's real nightmare action!.

Yes, "The Mist" is excellent. Not to be confused with "The Fog".

my jw wife babysits from time to time, usually non-jws.
apparently my daughter was indoctrinated to the evils of halloween recently because one of the "worldly" kids mentioned it and she told him it was bad.
(although when i'm with her alone, she totally loves the holiday).. this non-dub kid said, "no it's not bad.
That's up to you, PP. You're entitled to your opinion.
