When I first discovered TTATT I wanted to keep my JW friends. But as time went on, being around them and hearing their constant pro-WT comments drove me away from even the ones I really liked. Sadly, that even includes some of my relatives. I try to engage their authentic personality as much as possible, but the cult personality pops up so often that it's difficult to stomach.

Have you grown detached from caring about JW family and old friends?
by tootired2care inafter being out of the borg for a year and a half, weve dealt with a lot of nonsense from local elders stopping by unannounced, well-meaning do-gooders trying to encourage us.
somehow weve managed to get through this without getting dfd/dad.
for me the worst part of it all has been that much of my family has shunned me, and stopped talking to me, as soon as they heard through the grapevine that i wasnt going to meetings.

3. don't blame jehovah for anything, and 4. more importantly, never criticize the ones who claim to represent jehovah.. this is a typical meeting nowadays.
there are all kinds of possibilities to emphasize positive qualities and experiences.

This is a typical meeting nowadays. There are all kinds of possibilities to emphasize positive qualities and experiences. Love, joy, and peace could all be promoted. But no, the WT is always a Debbie Downer and it looks like it will be this way for the foreseeable future.

by minimus ini would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .
and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

When I first came to this site I wondered how everyone seemed to know so much inside info. Then I read CoC and realized it all came from Ray.
Also a huge reason I kept coming back here was for the humor. People like Outlaw, Farkel, Sacolton, etc.
I'd say the person who influenced me the most to go from believer to atheist was LeavingWT. He always challenged my thinking and I appreciate that now.
