  Zen living part two (summarized): a brief history of zen buddhism

  the buddha was a man named siddhartha guatama, born of the warrior class in india in about 500 b.c.e.

  siddhartha attained enlightenment after abandoning his privileged life and searching for truth about six years.. buddhism's four noble truths are that life is full of suffering, suffering is due to desires and attatchments, suffering can be eliminated by eliminating desires and attatchments, and the way to do this is by following the eightfold path.. the eightfold path includes right understanding, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.. buddhism spread from india to china, where it developed into many sects, eventually spreading to japan, korea, vietnam, and the u.s.. a zen teacher can't hand you enlightenment but can point the way..

  improving your financial literacy: .

  some people are fortunate enough to learn the keys to financial success at home, from knowledgable friends, and from books.

  others either never learn the keys to success, or they learn them the hard way- by making lots of costly mistakes.. people who lack knowledge make more mistakes, and the more financial errors you commit, the more money passes through your hands and out of your life.

  Thanks for your input oompa... hope you have more to come... the whole reason I started this series is the same reason I started learning about personal finance myself... because in dub land you're told it's a waste of time in this system... so for those like me who have a lot to learn... a give and take about it can help everyone who grew up in this cult...

  jw's like to refer to their body of beliefs as "the truth", even when those beliefs are adjusted or even reversed, giving rise to the question 'if this is "the truth", then what were the beliefs which were promoted as "the truth" until the change'?.

  state something you have actually found to be "true", in the sense that, in your experience, it agrees with what is observed in the real world.. .

  you're going to rack up enormous brokerage commissions.. on occasions where your short-term trades produce a profit, you pay high ordinary income tax rates rather than the far lower capital gains rate for investments held more than 12 months.. you're not going to make big profits- quite the reverse.

  if you stick with this approach, you'll underperform the market averages.. you're going to make yourself a nervous wreck.

  I dvr'd "House of Frankenstein" and "House of Dracula". Each of them contains all 3 characters- Dracula, the Wolfman, and Frankenstein. I also like "White Zombie". I wish they'd show "The Fearless Vampire Killers" like they did in years past. "Constantine" is on the dvr as well. Never seen it, looking forward to it.
