"large but mainstream" brings what changes next?
by agent zero inin some other threads there has been talk of wether the organization will go large and mainstream or small and hard-core in the upcoming years.. in the past few years, the sunday public talk has been shortened, the bookstudy eliminated (at least as a seperate meeting night), #2 talks are down to a simple read-through, and a little longer ago pioneering hour requirements have been shortened.
personally i would take these as signs of them going more soft and keeping a larger membership.. if this is indeed the case, what would you suspect of being cut off or changed next?.

Mentally challenged man traps JW in house
by JimmyPage ini've heard this story twice lately- first it was told to my wife by her non-jw boss and then i heard it from my own non-jw coworkers.
i have no idea if it is really true but it's a great story.. apparently a high-functioning but mentally challenged man had his own house close to his parents' house.
his mom dropped by to visit him and she wondered where all his furniture was.

His mother went to the room where the "leprechaun" had been barricaded in by the man's furniture. Apparently he was holding captive a midget JW!
The non-JWs who told me this story said it was unusual that this midget was by himself because, as they said, "those Witnesses usually roll four-deep!"

I have a whole slew of friends on Facebook that I grew up with in my childhood congregation but who are no longer JWs. It's awesome!

Borg court: 3rd session & verdict
by sd-7 inso...the third and final session was pretty straightforward.
they basically asked some more questions about the first woman, before i got back with the woman who became my wife.
then they asked what seemed like nothing more than a customer survey of "how are we doin'?

Not to minimize the pain I know you must be going through, but... CONGRATULATIONS! I am actually quite jealous that you are officially no longer a JW!
And the pain will heal.

How miserable are Witless Kids REALLY?
by hamsterbait in25 years ago i lived in an apartment overlooking the grounds of the local high school.. at the time i still totally believed the lie.
a lot of the dub students went to my hell.. i noticed looking out my window, that the witless kids always looked miserable and isolated.
yet in the kingdumb hell they would behave almost euphorically.. what was going on?.

I remember standing outside the class every morning during the flag salute. That's where the teacher wanted me because her kids were in the military and she did not want to be offended by seeing me not saying the pledge.
I hated always having to do something "alternative" to whatever holiday activity was being done at school. If everybody else was coloring pictures of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, then I was coloring a picture of a kid playing in the snow or something.
I remember constantly saying prayers in my head asking forgiveness for my bad thoughts- in grade school! How normal is that for a kid?

I remember a "worldly" friend of mine in grade school started coming over to the house a lot. Then he started inviting me to parties. That was when my parents really put the clamps down on me.
A girl wrote in my high school annual, "I loved playing with you in grade school. In high school you kind of disappeared."
It was desperately lonely. My only approved association were the kids in the congregation. Guess what, Mom and Dad? Three of those kids were gay!
I had conflicted feelings my entire life because I was always attracted to girls who were not JWs.
I had a lot of potential artistically but the only thing you were supposed to do was serve the organization.
I feel really proud of myself now for trying to help my kids lead normal lives: celebrating holidays and hopefully going to college eventually.
