  I find I am Shunning my family !

  although i really hate the wt/jw shunning policy, which especially huts those who have been df'd, i find i am in a kind of way doing it to my jw family.. i do not include them in anything i do, in my own family gatherings, and i cannot be arsed to inform them of things going on in my family, or to even go and see them, unless really necessary.. this all adds up to a kind of "reverse shunning", and i do feel a twinge of guilt about it, but it is simply how things have become.. do you, fellow faders, find a similar thing happening ?.

  I relate to this topic so much. I never had any intention of shunning JW family members or JW friends. It's just that you can't spend any time with them without hearing about the cult. And I'm done hearing about it.

  i'm just curious but has anybody meet some one on jehovahwitness-net who they knew in their jw lives.

  just want to hear experiences.

  please include the indicators that led up to you identifying each other, and how you eventually revealed yourself.

  I had been on this site for a short while when I saw that someone used their real life photo as their avatar and I recognized them immediately. We grew up in the same congregation. I pm'd them and we've gotten together a few times since. Such a great experience to be able to speak openly about what we know now!

  Have you grown detached from caring about JW family and old friends?

  after being out of the borg for a year and a half, weve dealt with a lot of nonsense from local elders stopping by unannounced, well-meaning do-gooders trying to encourage us.

  somehow weve managed to get through this without getting dfd/dad.

  for me the worst part of it all has been that much of my family has shunned me, and stopped talking to me, as soon as they heard through the grapevine that i wasnt going to meetings.

  When I first discovered TTATT I wanted to keep my JW friends. But as time went on, being around them and hearing their constant pro-WT comments drove me away from even the ones I really liked. Sadly, that even includes some of my relatives. I try to engage their authentic personality as much as possible, but the cult personality pops up so often that it's difficult to stomach.

  here's what i gathered from the most recent wt study: 1. all your problems are your own fault, or 2. the ones that aren't your fault are satan's fault.

  3. don't blame jehovah for anything, and 4. more importantly, never criticize the ones who claim to represent jehovah.. this is a typical meeting nowadays.

  there are all kinds of possibilities to emphasize positive qualities and experiences.
