I TOLD AN ELDERS WIFE OFF YESTERDAY!
by Mary injust to give you a bit of background: i was diagnosed with uterine cancer a couple of years ago and had to have a hysterectomy.
naturally i got more support from all my worldly friends and co-workers than what i did from people at the hall, but am used to that by now.
anyway, a few days ago, someone from the hall told me that sister x (one of the elders wives who is a nosey, back-stabbing bitch) had been saying things about me like "she shouldn't have had a hysterectomy because that's showing disrespect for the reproductive organs that jehovah gave us" and that i apparently was "lacking in faith" by not "leaving it in jehovah's hand" and didn't i read that article in the botchtower or asleep!

Which One Lie Hurt You The Most About Jehovahs Witnesses?
by shamus inwhich one teaching really hurt you when you found out that it was not true?
my number one thing is finding out that the name "jehovah" was not in the bible like it was in the new world translation (tm).
christians did not call god "jehover" "jehovah" or by his first name, no more than you would call your father by his first name when you were a child.

So many lies...so little time. What finally propelled us out was the fact that the org. feels that anyone who isn't baptized is an unbeliever. Tell that to your kids who have stuck up for the JW's their whole school career and stood out like a sore thumb. Unbeliever? I think not. Cathy L.

My album: "Bad Gettin' Better"
by Nosferatu infor some time, i've been contemplating doing a solo album, but i had no clue exactly what i wanted to do.
lately, i've been recording me singing to some karaoke discs (which will end up on my website).
the other night, it struck me.

Go for it Nosferatu...it's amazing what a person can put together using a computer. Quite professional sounding stuff. Great idea about making a CD for wedding favors. Now that's a gift that keeps on giving! I wish you luck on your musical adventure!! Cathy L.

Favorite childhood TV shows
by Nosferatu innow, i'm not referring to sesame street, mr. rogers, or any of the educational kids' shows.
i'm talking about the ones for pure entertainment, cartoons and such.
however, i can't really classify this as purely cartoons since some of you might have watched things like hr pufnstuf.. i grew up in the 1980s, when the magic of saturday morning cartoons existed.

Boy oh boy...this sure dates a person! Bonanza, The Wonderful World of Disney, Gunsmoke, The Avengers, The Monkees, Bewitched, American Bandstand, Lassie, My Three Sons, The Man from Uncle...errrr...I guess that's more my older childhood years. Though I do remember liking Captain Kangaroo & Bozo the Clown.

What was your favourite topic when preaching door to door?
by JH inwhen i was going door to door, i liked talking about the signs of the end, earthquakes, wars, and all the signs that jesus gave.
i liked talking about how the world was doomed and that only the kingdom would set things straight.
what did you like talking about going door to door?

I usually talked to myself mostly...hoping and praying that no one would answer the door because I never knew what the H**L I was doing out there. Cathy L.

Were You Ever "Marked" or Shunned?
by minimus inhow many here either were "marked" or "shunned" in some way?
-
HadEnuf
My, my, my...I could write forever on this subject but don't worry...I won't.
My son was marked for marrying an unbaptized publisher who was raised as a JW. Of course...he was never WARNED about his evil activities and the marking talk was done two days before his wedding. (The whole putrid story is on another thread if anyone cares to look it up under my topics.) As far as I know not too many in the congregation speak to them or have anything to do with them besides a few of my son's wifes relatives. (Hey...this is a GOOD thing).
My mother and sister actively shun me. I haven't spoken to them for over two years. I am neither DF'd of DA'd...but according to my sister I am an apostate (she's got that right!) and am demonized. Arghhhhhhhh!!!
We have little to no contact with anyone in our congregation...yes; our beloved brothers and sisters who would have died for us during the great tribulation if it came down to it. Most people go the other way when we are in the vicinity...and we shower and use deodorant daily, so I now that isn't the problem. A few weeks ago my husband and I were out for breakfast and a group of JW's out in service sat about 5 feet away from us (one of these persons was my husband's cousin and an elder)...they never looked our way or acknowledged our presence. Actually...I was most happy for this.
GOOD RIDDANCE !!! Cathy L.
