I remember a guy who made a bunch of recordings of himself playing Kingdom Melodies with a "Rock and Roll" twist. He was reamed out by the elders because we all know "Heavy Metal Guitar" is from the devil.
Poor guy... he probably thought he was bridging the gap, but all of the young guys made fun of him, and he was scolded by the elders.
religious believers clearly have tendencies to make-up "facts" and "evidence" rather than accept true research and admit even the simplest of belief failures.
they have strange ceremonies that are virtually pointless but are said to have special significance or power.. we all know certain 'christians' alive today who are fully prepared to argue that they might never die!
couldn't it be argued that such a reversion into childlike fantasy is a telltale sign of mental illness?

since it seems the cats out of the bag on the book study being eliminated from small groups at homes, i feel it ok to discuss the "why" of the society's actions on this manner.
many seem to be confused as to why the wt would eliminate another evening of busywork.
some see it as a loosening of the riens on the wt's part to let the congregation breathe.....i see it as the complete opposite....i see it as another control tactic, one that has been in the works for a while.
they could have easily just done away with "home" book studies and reel everyone back into the Kingdumb Hall on Monday or Tuesday nights.
Not necessarily. Think about all of congregations that share a hall. Creating another "big group" meeting for every congregation would create a scheduling nightmare, and in some places it would be impossible.

I wish I could have voted in our primary, but the chances of being caught were too high. From what I understand, if someone sees you and rats you out, there really isn't any discussion. You are automatically considered DA'd.
I am not ready for that yet.
I find it funny though, that so many JW sit around and complain about the government, sometimes getting very heated about it. The neutrality thing is an illusion. Most witnesses are not neutral.

It's like a huricane or a tsunami... you can try to prepare for it, but you really cannot stop it. Your only option is to deal with it when it arrives.
as i read posts throughout this site, i became amazed at some of the criticism people have actually spent time creating, reading (as i did), and responding to.
dont get me wrong, some of what i read are good issues that seem worthy (to me) of discussion, but to be honest, i find that 90% of the posts are based on ridiculous petty topics that are obviously tied to a sense of deep hatred of the wtbts.
i can appreciate that some of the people who leave such post, and have this hatred, are taking their time to discuss such things as part of a therapeutic process to combat the fact they spent a large portion of their life dedicated to an organization they feel abandoned them at some point.
Nobody on this forum is going house to house trying to get others to read it...

i'm not trying to pick a fight i was just sitting at my desk pondering on some threads on jwd and i would very much like this question answered.. why is it that athiest often (not always) direct their argument for athiesism towards christians?
why not direct your argument towards buddists or muslims or even new-agers?
i mean they also believe in a higher power so why is it that only christains seem to get knocked?
Reality is tough. Life is hard. I understand why 90% of people need to create some form of hope that things in their life will get better magically or that their next life will be better.

Fantasy helps some deal with it. At some point fantasy becomes reality.
Maybe someday in the distant future, Archaeologists will dig up Superman comics and maybe find a film reel or two and argue that he was a god who protected humans from danger...
