while drinking beer and gin/tonics at a sports bar, my friend and i argued over who the best nba team would be.

please give us some help and tell who you think would win this game in a best of 7 series in a neutral court.

keep in mind that all the players are in their prime and consider how these would play as a unit as much as their career stats.

i was intersted in what brought "you" out.. with me it was the 607 bce thing.

i always followed the org and would have died for it but when i saw the fallacy of the 607 date that blew it for me.

i am now on a quest to try and find something to feel comfortable with.

after being on this site for about a month now,i have read many if not all "bashing" j/ws for obvious reasons.i am starting to come to the conclusion that this religion i was raised in is just another religion.but to bring a "thread" of objectivity,i was wonder what you all thought of of the religous freedom j/ws have fought for.i'm reading a book now called 'judging jehovahs witnesses'.some quotes:.

"i think the jehovahs witnesses ought to have an endowment in view of the aid which they give in solving the legel problems of civil liberties"--harlan fiske stone,u.s.

i love the book lists on amazon; i get lost in them for hours.

recently someone asked me for book recommendations, and i thought it would be fun if we shared our lists of top ten books that helped us think our way out of the jw dogma.

im putting aside the obvious ones, like crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed.. heres my list, in the order i discovered them as best i can recall.. ginny.

Jesus didn't invite everyone.

i was thinking about this the first time today.

when jesus introduced the memorial celebration he didn't invite all his deciples.

only the apostoles were present.

New Heavens and New Earth

i've been taught as a j.w.

that the "new heavens" is made up of 144,000 annointed christians and the "new earth" are those that will inhabit the earth in a paradise.

i've noticed a sundry of differing minds on this site and i would appreciate any different takes on this scripture found at isaiah and 2 peter thanks still nothing.

maybe this irked you in the past?

i had a hard time convincing--nay, believing--that we lived in such baaaad times.

jws have the belief that times are bad, so we had the task of convincing the householders of that.

to all those who have in some way left the organization (be it disfellowshipping, disassociating, dis-whatever):.

come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.

the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?
