Thanks W. Once; this was so much fun and they were all so funny. And thanks to Brinjen for an old thread I read that told me how to post a pic. Momz, I really liked the bean one - that's exactly what her face looked like! But how do you say it in Spanish.

Spiritual food = Dub grub....whadayathink???
by Alpaca ini coined this the other day on another thread and it seemed to get a laugh out of a few people.. and since were talking about it, what other great terms could we come up with in the spirit of "the borg," the filthful and disgraceful slavebugger (a fave of mine)......??

Join in the fun at the JWD TRIVIA QUIZ!
by nicolaou indon't worry, it's not for brainiacs, i only scored 3/10 yesterday!
there are just 10 questions on a different topic each day.
you don't have to play every day but if you've got a ruthless need to win it probably helps (unless your name is duncan is which case you can take a week off, stroll back to the quiz and still take top spot .

Well this was fun, but how can you possibly read and understand the questions that fast?

How did you find JWD?
by sweet pea inprompted by the thread about jwd v wts i wondered how many of you found jwd via the internet or friends/partners?
what were your first impressions?
i found this site through besty (husband) once my faith had crumbled after reading www.jwfacts.com.

Like daniel-p
After I filtered through all the rabid apostate sites
which I did half heartedly a few times through the years, I found a mild site and lurked a while until they mentioned JWD.
My first impression? Scary, aggressive, but seemed to tolerate a wide range of views. With all the info, I could lurk and research all I wanted. Never intended to post - not sure why that changed.

Old people and the internet
by Burger Time ini just read a post where a 52 year old woman posted a huge diatribe about a certain subject....not a big deal but it was used with multiple sized fonts and well just plainly over sized.
i have noticed this is a problem with most older ones who post on the internet?
whats up with that?

Yes oldER people have a harder time seeing small print. That's why a lot of us skip wordy posts or long paragraphs. Thanks for noticing.
And Velvetann, don't threaten him with a good time.

If the G.B. and WTS don't have good motives, what is the point.....
by Mightyone inthis may be the topic of an old thread but, if the g.b.
and wts don't have good motives, what is the point of the whole religion?
i mean, it doesn't appear that anybody is getting rich or am i missing something.

I think in the beginning they probably did have good motives, but power, even a little bit, corrupts over time. Business gets big and all the decisions are made to sustain it; people become statistics.
I used to think that Babylon the Great would fall because money would be taken away; but now I think it's more about the power.
Think of an elder you know that is a complete ass (one that was not born in, but came in off the street). Very likely someone like that had a good heart in the beginning. But power corrupted.
No, over time, it becomes all about the ritual, as someone said. There is no love there. You can't seem to find anyone who even understands the principle of love on a practical day-to-day basis.
I went back and read some of your posts - you seem to be honestly searching for some answers. Your apology touched me. Not everyone here has abandoned all belief. I still believe the basic tenets of JW. If WBTS would issue a huge apology and all step down and stop all their foolishness, I would give it a second look.

Welcome, Mary.
I agree with ldrnomo. Some honest-hearted ones can no longer stomach the hypocrisy and lack of love and are driven away. Hopefully Jesus will think we are salvageable. If not, we will be sure to have better lives now, for all the sacrifices we have made.
The opinions here are so diverse, I'm sure this place will help us newbies to gain a much better understanding of the important things.

Hi Jetery,
I'm new too, but welcome.
wonderful witness they gave your Stepfather eh?
Yes, what a witness they gave to the community and god, himself. Things like this show them up for what they are "having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power". I was taught that we were family, brothers and sisters. I cannot imagine going to a meeting instead of my own sister's funeral, even one I did not like. Some of us are never accepted or counted as valuable. It is a shame.
I am so happy to hear that your mom had a nice life though with her sweetheart. Things will get better.
