quietlyleaving, if you threw away the first copy of COC, and a few months later ordered it and read it, what made you want to read it? The fact that your were told not to read it, or just plain couriosity?

B_Deserter, That's good to hear, but your friend was disfellowshiped for 9 yrs. That helps, he was more out then in, but still the book released him from beliving in the lie.

I think my kids are the moderate jw. They like the thought of paradise earth, they go to meetings, but in every other aspect they are like the worldly people. All their friends are outside the WT. They listen to music the WT would not approve of. They like to go out to worldy clubs, dance and drink. They participate in sports. My daughters best friend, not a jw, has a mouth like a sailor.
Sometimes I think they just want to keep peace with his mom and step dad. Step dad is an elder, mom is a pioneer and extreme. My son in law is more relaxed about it, my daughter has told me before that anything off the internet is apostate. He would probably accept the book but my daughter may take offense.
lw, I do think my son in law thinks for himself, I don't think he is completely under the WT controll. I can tell you this much, he is a coach, he love's his job and if they would make that a WT offense, he would leave before he would give up coaching.

sacoltom, if they refused it because its apostate, I would respond with, Thats control of information, where is your free will to examine things for yourself. What are you afraid of?

lw, how long ago? I was thinking on handing it to my son-in-law so I would see his reaction? Just not sure if its the right way to go.

I have a question, do the JW' still believe that....,
by cawshun indo the jw's still believe that they were chosen by jesus as god's one true religion, by what charles russel taught?
do they stand on that or do they feel they were chosen later under rutherford?
if they accept that russel was chosen and rutherford changed things up, wouldn't rutherford be an apostate?.

Thank you. I really don't think my son-in-law really totally loves the truth. I think he loves the idea of everlasting life on paradise earth and he feels he is doing what is right to give his children everlasting life.
I would not want to damage his pride, but at the same time, I can't bear the fact that he is raising my grand-kids under the WT's mind controlling cult. I am more worried about them being damaged like so many I have read about here.
I am learning from all of you here on what not to do, how not to approach him, it will take me time to think things out.
I am not sure about this, but I was really thinking about giving him Raymond Franz's book this summer when he is on vacation and has time to read it. I will just tell him I saw it on Amazon.com and it looked interesting to me. I bought it, read it, and I think he would find it very enlightening and interesting. If they get mad at me, I'll just tell them I don't know what it is their afraid of. I'm just so tired of trying to find way's to reach them without them getting upset. They can either read the book or throw it away. Maybe they will just put it up on a shelf and them get courious one day and decide to look through it.
I still have a lot to learn. There are so many brilliant minds on this forum and I'm so impressed with all the wisdom and research that is here to help those of us that are struggling with the wt and our families.
Many thanks

Change in Regular Pioneer application process
by Ultimate Reality inthis week a letter is being read that changes the process for the approval of regular pioneers.
in times past you had to fill out an application, submit it to the elder body (who would then add their comments), and it would be forwarded to "the branch" for approval.. this is being changed so that the elder body grants the approval instead of brooklyn or the local branch.
it looks like the lawyers are removing any and all direct contact between the rank-and-file and the gb.

possible-san, thank you for the link godpresence within, some very important dates there and very useful. When I see how contradicting the WT is, it is unbelievable they can get away with it.
Thanks again
