Iceman,
You have the mind set that the WT love's. Stick with them, you'll fit in perfect!
a web site called jehovah-witness.net where x-jw's and jw's who pretend to be jw's come to chat about how bad jehovah witnesses are and how they brain washed them etc, would it not be more productive to move on and forget than to let something most of you obviously hate take so much of your time and effort.. for some being a jw is about not being part of the world, what other religion is there that is as moral as a jw.
i am d'fed but i belive that jw's are the true religion.
sure some of them can be self righteous pricks but there imperfect just like anyone else,we all need to focus on us and not worry about what there doing because we can't change them.. .

i just finished reading "captives of a concept" i thought it was a terrific book.
has any one had any success studying the history with a jw?.
hubert, yes, I have read both books, I wish I could just hand them over to my kids to read but I don't think it would go over to good.
jws, your right they did claim 1874 as one of their worng dates also. It amazes me they kept getting it wrong and everyone still trust and believes the WT.
firstly....i have a problem here and have for years.
i am prob part of a big jw club based on how all my old friends drink.
but nightly i self medicate (nice term for gettin seriously buzzed to drunk).
ompaa, I was addicted to cigerettes, I used Chantx to help me quit. It was the easiest time I ever had quiting smoking.
The other day, on fox news, they said they are having good results with Chantx with people that have drinking problems.
Its by prescription and its costly, about $112.00 for a month. You take one pill for the first week then 2 a day after that. You can take it for as long as necessary to help you quit.
You can google it and read about it. I have seen it spelled Chantx and Chantix
Good Luck

jws
The teaching is that Jesus returned in 1914 to begin his Second Coming or " invisible presende" in fulfilment of Matthew 24:3. Then in 1918 he began to make an examination of all the religions claiming to represent him to see if any of them had been faithfully and discreetly providing true teachings of the Bible (spiritual food) at the proper time during his absence. They say the only religion he found doing so was the Wathctower Society nd therefore Jesus appointed them over all his earthly interest in the sping of 1919.
Well back then the witnesses were celebrating Christmas and Birthday's. Smoking wasn't a disfellowshiping offense till the 1970's. The Cross, today the cross is said to be of pagan origin but, it was predominantly displayed on the front cover of every issue of the Watch Tower magazine up till October 15th, 1931.
Today these teachings are considered so offensive to God that any witness who believes or practices even one of the would be disfellowshipped.
If they are so wrong today when the Society doesn't teach them, they must have been just as wrong during all the years they did teach them.
If these teachings would fail an examination by Jesus today, they would have failed his examination in 1918-1919.
The watchtower religion stands or falls on Jesus decision back then.
This comes from the book Captives of a Concept
nine months ago, my whole world was rocked sideways and upside down!!
it all started with a search on the internet about jw's and 1975. little did i know what i was going to see when i came on here-jwn and freeminds.org.
needless to say, i was totally devastated to learn how that the "truth" was not really the truth.
Questioning every thing,
You are a lover of the truth, and that is what made you research it further and you found the truth. I am just happy you have a good out look and plan to raise your children outside the Wt.
I get so excited whenever another jw learns the truth, it gives me hope for my family.
Best Wishes in your new life
this made me giggle.... coffee .
pregnancy, estrogen, and women .
pregnancy q & a & more!.
Right On! I'm the other woman.

Outlaw, It makes me sad but you still make me laugh! Thanks!
the watch tower bible and tract society was founded on the belief that armageddon is imminent.
in the late 1870s when charles t russell gave up his business interests and began preaching that christ had returned - invisibly, of course - in 1874 and that by 1914 the current system would be over with, a religious model pinched from the adventists and millerites, was established.. 1914 came and went, this old system lumbered on, and the wtbts in the person of russell began re-reading his favourite biblical texts and re-calibrating his 'pyramidological' calculations.
yes, his prophecies hadn't come true, but the bible students lived to predict another end of the world.
Very good discussion, I would love to present this to my famil but they would ask where I got this information. Once I tell them I got it off the internet, I get this response: "Oh off the internet, no wonder, all that stuff on the internet is from apostates".
I don't think it would matter where the info comes from, its critical of the Wt therefore, it's not worthy.
The brick wall keeps getting thicker and thicker.
I just keep hoping for an awakening like so many of you have found.
I guess if my kids were real lover's of the truth, they would have to doubt and want to research further, so maybe they really aren't lover's of the truth.

I want him to conduct the study for me. Outlaw, I think your right, they will just dismiss the past teaching's of Russel and Rutherford and nothing will let them think otherwise.
It seems so simple to me, but then I'm not under a mind controlling cult.
i have posted the beginning of this story a while back.
my 14 year old grandson founded helping step by step to call attention to the plight of homeless children in this country.
he will walk from orlando fl to washington dc this summer, living as close as possible to how a homeless child lives.
coffee-black,
What a noble cause and what a heart felt thing for your grand-son to do. I only hope he is not doing this alone and that he is aware of all the danger's around today.
Just make sure he is going about this in a very safe way.
My hat's off to him, remarkable!
