Stalin, Polpot and others didn't go to war because they were atheists, they did it because they were dicks.
This counter point seems to always come up by religionists to try and defame atheism.
The reality is these people were solely endeavored to obtain complete control of the population centering the power unto themselves without any
crippling diversion from anyone or any established organization, either by political or religious expression.
Centering the power directly at themselves but propagandized to the masses that it was better this way for the greater population.
And they used their acquired control by using military force to achieve this goal, killing millions in the process..
This is by no means an expression of modern secular humanism by any tangible understanding.

The physicist Laurence Krauss, on a panel with Dawkins, said that scientists had for a while avoided giving any credence to the big bang theory because it was too close to the biblical account.
Really ? since when does the big bang theory correlate to the seven days of creation by a supernatural being ?

Religion was and still is a controlling vehicle placed upon on all societies, both ancient and modern but still morally strucrered

What happens to the people in that country who do NOT believe in that religion??? With all the talk of freedom of religion, what about freedom FROM religion ??
This statement makes myself think of the many people who do live in a country that is being highly controlled by a religious theocracy such as Iran.
This is a country that still to this day kills people by hanging for the simple and perhaps unfortunate occurrence of themselves being homosexual.
Not to mention the many other oppressive and demoralizing aspects that this religious regime imposes on to the population.
The degradation of woman being another example.
All enforced by contrived moral standards established by a ancient civilization thousands of years ago, no less !
i've talked with a number of jws who have commented that they feel like failures -- that they're never good enough.. if that resonates with someone reading this post, please realize that you are by no means the only one who feels like that.. in fact, the whole wt system depends on keeping jws feeling that way.

you are always reading or hearing about someone who puts in an extraordinary number of hours in field service or someone who goes out more than you do despite having twice as many challenges and responsibilities.
I would like to see someone in the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger class getting 200 hours a month of real field circus (no cheating), doing what they themselves suggest.
This brings up a interesting and important fact that the top executive leaders of this organization (GB) do not put out a strenuously amount of
service work under duress circumstances, they work in the best possible working environment, quiet, air conditioned offices and even if they do
go out in service they just hop into one the of luxury cars provide by the WTS., who also pays for the gas and insurance to make an appearance.
The top executive leaders of this organization (GB) know quite well of their privileged position in the organization and they also know what to do to
maintain that lofty position. Power has its attributes.

I think it was Dawkins who said that religion and its containing beliefs has served its needed purpose but its now time to wash
the slate clean and a start fresh with the knowledge of what mankind has acquired over the centuries, knowledge of himself together with
the knowledge of the world we live in.
Trying to subjugate humanity to moral standards which were created thousands of years ago is repugnantly redundant and morally unjust
for many.
