I'm lucky to have my wife
by 10p inwe had a death in the family on the weekend ... not someone i was really close to, but someone one of my immediate family members was very close to ... anyway, it made me think that i needed to pluck up the courage and talk to my wife about blood transfusions.
(the death was unrelated to xfusions, btw) .
so i said to my wife i really wanted to talk to her about transfusions, in a calm manner.

Photographs of old witness friends and Witness events. Do what with them?
by Thechickennest inmy family just took a stroll down witness lane this month as we searched for photographs that our graduating high school daughter needed for her display at her graduation party.
we have an immense file of photos of a previous life with the jw's.
in a way its a history of a former life.

Save the pictures, make a separate album for them, but don't throw them away, all the best!

Can JW beliefs contribute to suicide?
by TD init may sound like a strange question, but aspects of jw behavior that are incomprehensible to outsiders actually make a morbid kind of sense when viewed through the lens of jw doctrine.
for example, about 10-12 years ago there was a single mother in my wifes congregation.
during the course of conversation, she learned that my wifes grandmother had recently passed away.

"leaving her troubles behind and jumping into paradise" wtf!?!?!? Years ago one of my Bible Studies expressed the same idea to me, I convinced him that's not the way, but the sentiments are definitely there in the organization.

Anyone remember this former C.O.: Kevin Wright?
by Olin Moyles Ghost induring the early 2000s, kevin wright was the c.o.
for a circuit that included several of my friends.
i remember hearing my friends complain about what a tool this guy was--and these complainers weren't just "lowly" publishers--some of them were elders and pioneers.

I don't regret being involved in the organization. I met a multitude of interesting people. I also learned to reject the interpretive fallacies of "Christendom", but I've also learned to reject the watchtower's none-sense. I had good times with the brothers and the sisters, but I'm happier out of the organization.

WTS Higher Education Policy
by besty ina couple of topics recently have made me think about exactly how cynical are the wts when it comes to their higher education policy for the rank and file.. first one was mavie's about her forthcoming jc which prompted me to flick through richard dawkins the god delusion.
dawkins quotes from a study published in mensa magazine 2002; .
"of 43 studies carried out since 1927 on the relationship between religious belief and one's intelligence and/or educational level, all but four found an inverse connection.
