15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com
by Simon inyes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

JW's caught laughing at Child rapist accusers"
by Newly Enlightened injwvictims has done an excellent but disturbing article on how jw's feel about the child abuse problem.. http://jwvictims.org/2013/11/23/jehovahs-witnesses-caught-laughing-at-child-rape-accusers/.

The talk and the response of the audience are in contrast to the "public relations" line that the Watchtower spokesman parrots off to the media - "Jehovah's Witnesses abhor child abuse."
One standard at the Kingdom Hall. One standard for the public eye.

Brother so and so doesn't accept counsel
by hoser ini am not sure if anyone else here heard this phrase.
i did from a circuit overseer when i was a servant many moons ago.
with my newly enlightened mind i finally understand what this means.

That's been said to me a few times.
I don't go into the "back room" for conversations either. If they can't say it to me out in public, they needn't bother saying it at all.

Hi Lifeisfun
I'm new here as well. I just registered recently but have been reading for about 5 years.
I'm a convert and have always had a network of friends outside the congregation.
I've always got some project or interest going on and I find that I meet new people through those ways. At the moment, I'm trying to teach myself how to play golf. I can't putt straight to save my life, so to speak. The other players at the driving range notice this and the conversations arise from there. People love to talk about themselves and their interests, so I ask them things like "how long have you been playing? What do you like about the game? Etc, Etc, Etc" The conversations go from there. (I don't ask personal questions and just keep the conversation about golf and the weather and so forth.)
You have the social skills and as has already been mentioned, you made friends in the congregation, so you just use those same social skills out in the community.

My current interest/hobby at the moment is trying to teach myself how to play golf. Emphasis on the word "trying."
I can't hold my wrists straight yet so the golf balls go either left or right but rarely straight ahead.
I putt in Forrest Gump style - "you never know what ya gonna get"
