  Eusebius Hieronymus

  Eusebius - Eusebius (A.D. 263-339), a Greek Christian writer, was born in Palestine and educated at Caesarea, the city of which he later became bishop. A close friend of Emperor Constantine, the Greek Bishop Eusebius wrote the only surviving account of the Church during its first 300 years. Apart from this work we would know little of its rapid extension, its vitality, tribulation, persecutions, and martyrdoms. He deals with the ordeals of 146 martyrs, the teachings of 47 heretics, and the proceedings leading up to the major Councils, especially Nicea.

  Hieronymus - or St Jerome, c.345-420, was the most learned of the Four Doctors of the western church. One of T. Bartholin's favorite church fathers.

  a major news organization is in final process of preparing a tv program addressing the issues raised by silentlambs.

  its producers and investigator reporters wish to be fair and unbiased, and are seeking broad input and insight.. another such organization has been attracted to the child abuse issue but does not wish to duplicate what's covered.

  they are in the initial stages of examining the blood issue and that of enforced shunning and its consequences, in the light of human rights issues globally.

  Thanks for the additional quote Tom.

  Its just like what Maximus says - they rehash the old material without thinking and reading the actual quote to ensure accuracy. I also suspect they do it on purpose or they have had one too many run ins with the "stupid stick".

  Question for you Tom - There was a Tom on the old H20 board who brought out some really good quotes that showed how the present quotes in WT and A! articles were lies when compared to what was said in the past. Are you that same Tom?

  while much attention is given to doctrine in sites such as this, very little is noted about the watchtower societys intellectual dishonesty in its publications, especially when it comes to quotations.. oftentimes the societys writers will cite a scholar or author of some repute: "professor blank observes that blah, blah, blah.

  " the reader assumes from the quotation that professor blank is in agreement with the organizations position, of course, and that the quotation chosen accurately depicts the authors thoughts.. heres the catch: the words between the quotation marks may be accurate, but the snippet may not at all faithfully represent someones actual thesis or position.

  much like a newspaper ad for a movie that quotes a reviewer as saying "monumental!

  Lindy,

  Thanks for the kind words. She is a good of friend of my wife and me. I now realize after getting to "really" know a lot of JWs that this "isn't really that hard to believe".

  But the problem with her is she hates "reading" (the words a recruiter loves to hear). This combined with the "drilling" of her JW mom and all of her mom's friends have unfortunately taken their toll. This has made her very intellectually lazy so it is a tough struggle (me against about 50 people). I have told her things and she has opened up to a point. She now knows about some of the history. And then, once at that point (like most JWs) the wall is erected to get rid of the cognitive dissonance and I can say no more. I know she gets mad at me for doing it no matter how "tender" I am. My big problem when I talk to her is making sure I don't sound like a "Mr. Know it All" and trying to get the mind to think she is in a "dangerous cult". The only thing that keeps her from taking the "big plunge" is the boring meetings and the "not wanting to go door knocking".

  Her father died due to hep C from a blood transfusion too. He had Leukemia. So trying to make her understand that it was a bunch of guys in Ottawa who were at fault for not alllowing for the testing of AIDs and Hep C and not the fault of the blood itself is almost impossible for her to understand - I need a lot patience.

  She is just but one I am now trying to help. This kids stuff wrt to the blood issue and other things like the peds is just unreal and the shunning (.... Well that type of hate is big time wrong).

  So I try where I can - like this Frank Gorman stuff for Maximus. If we can get this moving correctly we may be able to change a policy that kills.
