This may be the topic of an old thread but, if the G.B. and WTS don't have good motives, what is the point of the whole religion? I mean, it doesn't appear that anybody is getting rich or am I missing something. Aside from the WTS collecting prime properties in the heights, nobody appears to be benefitting.

First of all, I am not involved in theocratic warfare. I am here to hear the other side. Secondly, I did not blame the congregations and families, I said "I believe that alot of the misunderstandings and hurt come from the individual families and congregational levels." Not all...I understand how implications can be read, however, aren't we all told to read our bible daily..Therefore, you or anybody else cannot tell me when "the generation", "the end of this sytem" will come..."Nobody knows the day or the hour." Even if we figure it out, we are still wrong..
As far as the dress situation, nobody would be turned away for just the same reason that you mentioned. That brochure was meant as a reminder of what type of dress is appropriate for visiting bethel. The decline in morals, pants around your knees, sloppy style, gangsta type dress is the fad today, and people do need reminders. Have you noticed the change in dress at work, used to be casual fridays, now pretty much the norm at alot of places. They are trying to keep the same level consistantly at bethel..Talk about reading into too much..I read nothing of being turned away.
As far as the blood issue, isn't it possible that with the changes that have taken place on the G.B. That maybe they have seen the error of their ways on certain issues? Just a question. No matter what, lets please remember that ANY inpropriaties that have taken place, will be handle by Jehovah himself.
And I don't mean to condemn, and I sincerely apologize if I come across as condemnatory. Lets consider it a friendly debate.

I apologize for the statement about not cutting it as a witness. I will edit that out. There is no doubt that many have been hurt by overzealous, pharasaical "brothers", family members, ect.

I believe that it is difficult to teach common sense or discernment to some. Therefore, damned if you do, damned if you don't

Please make no mistake about it, I am not against "the society". I believe that alot of the misunderstandings and hurt come from the individual families and congregational levels. I KNOW that alot of meaning gets lost by the time information reaches the congregation level. I.E. College. I have never read that we shouldn't go to college. I have read that there is an extreme spiritual danger in sending a 17, 18 year old off, away from mom and dads watchful eye, into a place where other 17,18 year olds are. And nobody here can disagree with that. Some young ones may not be affected, but I know that college would have been a bad place for me to be at that age. My particular congregation has had a few of its young ones attend community colleges without so much as being discouraged from doing so.
Most posting on this site would have to agree that the majority of people cannot rationalize the benefits or negative points on their own. Those will take what is read and make a blanket rule out of it...Case in point, the new full color brochure on what appropriate dress is when visiting Bethel...right after the reading of that letter, many were heard to say that "now they are telling us what to wear at the meetings, f.s., even some mentioned day to day...I read the letter myself, It said nothing like that. It was the same as me asking you to remove your shoes when you come into my home. My right, If you don't like that request, don't come visit...
Sorry about the red, I only meant to emphasize that one point about when visiting bethel and now I can't change it back..

Oh Mighty One...we are not worthy.
By the way, you shouldn't be here.
So which way is it, am I supposed to investigate or not? Why can't I hear what the other side has to say?

It is great that you can be so frank with your family. That being said, let me say that you are correct in most of your points. Children should be aware and mature enough. There is no set age at which that happens. I know some that were baptized very young and are and have always done very well, I also know some that waited and after many years don't grasp the meaning of baptism.
We should preach from the heart, love of neighbor is our motive along with love of God....We only report, so that we can be encouraged by the progress that is being made in the preaching work..."interchange of encouragement." The Organization does not specify the number of hours we shoud turn in, we are encouraged to reach at least the national average because, face it, we all have other things that we allow to get in the way of our WHOLESOULED service to God.
We should use our heads and reason on things using the scriptures. Do you know how many people will still ask for your personal opinion and use that as their guide instead of what the bible says...That is why, when we come to an accurate conclusion, based on the bible, it is ultimately between us and Jehovah...That includes whether or not we agree with the slave..However, if you place doubts which cause a stumbling to someone...that is also a matter between you and Jehovah..
God is a God of order, not disorder. The apostles kept in contact with the various congregations in the first century. The sent letters of readjustment when needed...We do the same thing today...Many people are unable to motivate themselves, govern themselves, upbuild themselves, teach themselves...this is primarily the reason for and organized religion. It provides structure for those that cannot structure themselves..
You are somewhat correct, the slave is not infallable. They do make mistakes, because they are human. If you have ever spoke to one or a few of the G.B. they will tell you that. They also do not even try to pretend that their findings are the last word...Even if they did, The bible is still the ultimate authority..Lets talk about 1935..Lets not..is there any doubt that we are living in the last days? How long will the last days last? Who knows...."only the Father" Jesus himself said that..we are supposed to serve with a whole heart, soul, mind,,,if that is truely the case, then who cares when the end will come...Bottom line, even if we do figure it out, we will still be wrong. Only the Father knows..
Your family's reaction is knee jerk unfortunately like alot of others in the truth, do remember though that although you may or may not agree with them, they do love you and they do really believe that what they are trying to teach you is the best for you.

If it was really about the gas...
by carla inif it was really about the gas prices they would get rid of fs.
for most people at least in the us and probably most other westernized countries the trip to the local kh is not all that far.
fs is a different story!

It wasn't just about the gas, reread the WHOLE letter. This time with an open mind.

The serious minded ones do not. The ones that really apply what they are taught also do not. There are some that pick fun, but most know that is not Christlike.

It amazes me how many of you attended the local meeting "just to see the reaction". Why do that to yourselves, why waste your time? Is it just so that you have something to come back here to write about? You think the witnesses are trained monkees, but you behave like children, looking for something to run back and make fun of. The fact is, you couldn't cut it as a witness. So your gone, get over it and move on with your life! BTW, nobody clapped in all the 8 congregations surrounding me, I did check.
