You can't fault God for the mistakes of Adam and Eve , all he did was leave a way for them to decide where their loyalty was . The angel with the sword doesn't show up until after the evictiion so that they couldn't eat the fruit of the tree of liife and still live indefinitely, not dying of old age .IMO

Why would god do this?!
by foolsparadise inwhy would a loving god place a tree of knowledge of good and bad in the garden and tell the two humans they could not eat from it?
did he like tempting them or what?

What is the Biblical basis JWs are not allowed to 'witness' in churches?
by isaacaustin inwe know the book of acts shows paul doing just that.
since the wt claims to model itself off the 1st century christians, why this change?.

They already condemned the "churches of christiandom" as being the whore of babylon and the call was to ,"get out of her", not visit them . I'd like to know why the KH I attend here lately is putting down new carpet if the world is going to end any minute now ...............

Should America just pull out and leave Iraq and Afgan today regardless of outcome?
by Witness 007 injuly and august have seen the worst fighting and bloodshed since the war began....the general in afganistan has asked for a staggering 30,000 more american troops!
should america do a vietnam and pull out leaving the country to fend for itself.
i think civil war will come regardless of when and how.....today or 2012 will make no difference.

Every time I hear in the news of more and more innocents being killed is murder to me . It's already been proven that you cannot have a war on terror , there is no such thing . These wars are happening for the global elites to enslave people . I would answer yes to your question , I have no love for the military.

Yah they did step in a big pile of poopy over there . As we find out the exit strategy in Iraq worked just fine , they aren't going to end all violence in the region , I mean jeeze they can't do it in the states so why expect more from a bunch of backwards cultists? All I see is the military murdering innocent people and making the taliban the hero , The US is in big trouble economically so to believe they can sustain a presence there is really stupid . You are probably right on the trying to enslave them for economic gain . They also want control of the poppy fields to produce illegal drugs .

This religion I can see really appeals to polygamists, I think that cartoon was very freaky myself . It seems like there are some things that come from the bible , I wouldn't have a problem saying that jesus and satan are brothers since jesus is believed to have been arch angel Michael who remained loyal to God where as satan rebelled . If you join you may wind up with several wives ......he he

Governing Body's excuse - "the apostles made mistakes too"
by xelder inwe have all heard how the gb can make mistakes and it's ok because jesus apostles had wrong expectations too.
for instance.
peter had faults, james and john too - also, "lord, are you restoring the kingdom to isreal at this time" - etc.

We have this forum to throw around some thoughts on , judas was destined to do what he did, at least it isn't us .LOL I know it's hard to adhere to religion as I have tried in the past , christianity is a way of life not just a belief or a religion , I do believe that all religion has fallen short of divine standards and all people as well , even the apostle Peter proved himself a hypocrite , the bible itself has been bastardized by world rulers and charlatans . All you can do is strive to be the best you can .

Some interesting points being made here but it really is the FDS dogma that they cling to for authority .The apostles did make mistakes and the bible does contradict itself . Paul was clearly the most adamant about being free from the mosaic law claiming it was obsolete and passing away , cursed is the one hung upon a stake ,( of course jesus being the emodiment of the law) and the one believed to have given it to moses as the word of God. The 10 commandments jesus summed up as to do unto others as you would have others do unto you . Jesus initiated a new covenant at the last supper , to cling to the past was not part of the plan as when he said you cannot put new wine in old wine skins .

How much will Watchtower publish online?
by jonathanconway ini've noticed that they have a small selection of articles online.. however the majority of their stuff is only accessible through either the watchtower cdrom or dead trees.. has anyone yet asked them about putting their entire library online?.
if their aim is to "spead the good news", then what possible reason could there be for not making the content publicly accessible?.
since they already have it in electronic form (i believe the content is already in html format on the cd), the cost of doing this would be minimal, and it would probably make their website rank better in google.. of course, the flip-side is that this would allow others to link to their content and discuss it openly and, anonymously, which might expose them to much more criticism than they've ever experienced before.. but i'm wondering what their excuse would be if someone asked them "why not"?.

It would save them alot of money , they are always looking for ways to cut spending such as the move to not use the post office and mail the publications but instead they use a tractor trailer to move their publications throughout the country . The problem is that in third world countries people would not have web access so works better to print up material and send it where it needs to go . Of course the control issue is always there but it is their material and they have the right to do what they want with copy writ .

Bad press is putting the Watchtower org. in a defensive mode
by koolaid-man inthe squeaky clean image of the jehovah's witnesses as of late is becoming tarnished.
the news media is reporting many stories connecting the jehovah's witnesses to horrific, terrible crimes, as well as other odd behavior in their religion.
the recent murder and cannibalism of a young baby in texas as reported by the media suggested that the mother, who was the alleged murderer, was a jehovah's witness.the breaking story of phillip and nancy garrido in antioch california and the evil act of kidnapping a young girl and keeping her a prisoner in their back yard as well as his raping and having two children by her is extreme evil.

I think the point that was trying to be made is that the WTBTS does excomunicate people that are proven to engage in immoral behaviour where as say these people were in the catholic ,the church would not take action at all just like in the case of adolph hitler or pedophile preists that they just moved them to a new location . Of course I've never been in the JW religion like many on the board so don't have personal experiences of what politics are involved with remaining in good standing .
