What % of current JWs sincerely believe Armageddon will come within the next 30 years?

just to give you a little background about myself, i was a born-in, i'm in my late 20's now, i faded away a few years ago after researching the history of the wtbs on the internet.

my fade was aided by moving away with my job(i definately feel lucky about that).

eventually, i had discussions with a couple of my closer jw friends about why i no longer believed in the wtbs.

Latest Special Talk in Australia

no, i don't mean the visit by oprah.. there was a special talk on sunday relayed to all the aussie congs from sydney.

apparently the speaker had an american accent, but was stationed in a latin american country.

he was really pushing field service and pulled out the old one that: if you do not witness you are not one of jehovah's witnesses.

Conspiracy theory

i am a writer by nature so my imagination runs wild sometimes.

i always tend to fabricate scanarios that have a measure of feasibility.. check this one out:.

according to the new world order conspiracy theory the ideal population for the earth is only 500,000. some think that there have been groups of people throughout history that have attempted to or have furthered an agenda to "depopulate" the earth.. this got me to thinking, who would these 500,000 "new world starter set" people be?

Of course that was the promise for the earthling class to regress to a new stone age but in paradise conditions . THe rich and greedy are the ones ruining the earth but they are planning their own style of utopia where everyone else is nothing more than slave . The US right now is showing a monsterous head of fascism and is hard at work right now sabotaging the infrastructure of capitalism and freedom. They are trying to condition us to accept more and more government control and invasiveness .

from what I know of this theory is they do plan to implement malfius plan of malnutrition and creating food shortages. It's also suggested that they are going to a hitler style of ethnic cleansing and round people up to be gassed down at the fema camps where they have found preparations for mass graves with plastic coffins . you should watch jesse venturas conspiracy theory on true tv.

People screwed up christianity with crap like christmas and the belief they could hijack pagan festivals by christianizing them. The whole santa claus thing disgusts me greatly. Now if everyone just took the money they waste on slave labor crap from china and sent it to the people in Haiti who are suffering and ugly existence we might make the world slightly better.

I personally believe the only way to really tell is at their time of death and causes of death. The original pact with jesus is a death pact that involves being slaughtered by the world rulers .I've known two that were taken seriously by the cong,One had some beliefs that were off the wall the other was a woman, of which I do not believe at all are involved .

"Charitable Giving" Brochure

can someone provide me with some information on the names and nature of a brochure by the wt with a name something along the lines of "charitable giving"?

upon learning that a close jw relative was diagnosed with cancer, and possibly on their deathbed, the "friendly neighborhood jw hopital group" showed up, had a lengthy closed-door discussion with him one-on-one (wife couldn't be present), and left a brocure and dvd in the room with a title along the lines of "charitable giving" - i'm sorry, i didn't read the full name before it disappeared.

the 'brothers' (*cough* moneyhounders in sheeps clothing *cough*) had already left this "information" and had "discussions" with him before even the family learned of the situation and had arrived.. am i right in thinking this is a "you're soon-to-be-widow doesn't really need that life insurance money" brochure?

blondie is right ,they love to play wih trust funds with the money , they did it with the oil gas lease money at the cong I attended. I think it's despicable . every month they cry about not having enough to pay the bills and start demanding donations then comes along a chance to have it all paid for they run off with the money.

I'm going to say that they believe only demonically possesed people can see spirits since king saul was only unable to see them when consulting a medium . Very strange indeed, oh there's more just earmarking the page with that one.

Are they really that bad???

had a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .

is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?

heck of a first post. Just because everyone here has had bad experiences might not be enough proof that this cult is a funny farm for misfits and control freaks . Go right ahead and give it a whirl , if you can't identify the problems on your own we will try to help. Don't tell them you come here , the first thing they will do is try to control your internet activity .

Did you try , www.watchtower.org ? That is pretty nervey if all they want is to talk about is leaving money to the WT. I thinkk they are just as greedy if not more so than any televangelist I've seen on tv.
