Let me see if I have this straight -mindfield ,you are saying that the jw had you in the door to door ministry and doing public talks in the theocratic ministry school and you where never baptized a christian? geeeeeeezz what's wrong with this picture?Makes no sense to me at all .
garybuss -you are saying that they believe in some kind of wacko family merit system where they can baptize children but they still don't have any accountability ( just so they won't be destroyed at armageddon ) ,that is totally ludicrous.
I was reading the April 1 wt and about the baptism ,I couldn't get past the part it said accurate knowledge is a prefix to baptizm. One minute they say baptizm is voluntary the next they are saying you have to be approved by an organization. This is a total insult to my intelligence. To me training someone to be a minister before they have even officially converted to the religion is pointless.

Disturbing material in May 15, 2002 Watchtower
by spender inin the questions from readers section, the question was: "would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?".
to analyze this wonderful piece, i'm going to use their words, and translate them into real english.. "being in a group where everyone else is engaging in a false religious act, a christian may find it difficult to resist the pressure to join in.
how unwise to expose oneself to such pressure!".

Evidence of creation?
by chappy innot trying to start a discussion about extra-terrestrial life, but i assume that most feel it to be a rather strong possibility whether your belief is in creation, evolution or both.. i agree that discovery of intelligent life outside this world doesn't prove creation.
suppose however that such life were discovered and that it was of the homo-saphien variety?
what would be the odds of this happening through pure evolution?
-
heathen
Although I'm not a religionist I do believe in creation. The odds of evolution being proven fact are slim to none.I don't believe there is extra terrestrial life .If they should happen to find any life in the solar system it would probly have to do with the earth slinging meteorites that landed on the other planets .I remember they alledgedly found a mars meteorite they at first claimed they found microbiological eviidence of life on mars but then realized that the the sample had been contaminated due to the earths atmosphere.Another reason I am skeptical is cause so many alledged ufo encounters just about all of them can be proven falsified, some were just natural phenomena.

Who would you most like to meet.?
by JBean ini'm just curious...if you had the opportunity, who on this board would you like to meet if given the chance (or could without getting "in trouble"!)?
(could be serious, could be fun...) i for one, am just sooo curious to meet the cat himself... just to find out if he's much different in person than in his online persona!
...and maybe pet him a few times in the process...

awake 4-22-02 "spider masquerades as ant&q...
by Moxy inthere is a rather fascinating article at the end of the april 22nd awake concerning a certain spider that is able to imitate an ant so convincingly that it can live among ants and escape detection.
(puzzlingly the article fails to either name the spider or indicate its native habitat.
looking up some info myself, i see that there a several species of ant-mimicing spider, especially of the genus myrmarachne.
-

Is there any evidence that the ants anatomy has a complex nervous system? I really do look at nature with fascination. My guess is no and it really doesn't experience excruciating pain. What can you say though I don't have any compation for insects. There is an aweful lot of that mimicing stuff going on in the insect world which makes it interesting however.

I agree with the stance of not forcing religion or politics on children.I am a firm believer that public schools only obligation is to teach the neccessary tools to work and live in the united states. The 3 r's if you will.As far as clothing I for one would like to see some kind of dress code but it should also be determined by parents and teachers not the government. I like the poem however.

Watching the 'Apostate' World!
by VeniceIT inin south flordia yesterday and apostate found a money bag full of cash in her shopping bag when she got home.
the cash was in the amount of $3700 dollars, and was the stores cash receipts.
so said apostate called the store and reported the money, and then returned it.
