Change in meeting attendance procedure - can't figure out why though
by sir82 inper a recent letter to elders:.
beginning september 1, there will be a change to the way attendance is recorded at congregation meetings.. currently, attendance is counted at 4 of the 5 meeting (public talk, wt study, congregation "bible" study, and service meeting).. but after sept. 1, meeting attendance will only be taken at 2 of the meetings - during the "first quarter" of the wt study, and also at the cbs.. .
no reason in given for the change in the letter, and i can't figure out why myself.. the numbers are not published anywhere - the only "official" record is a 6 month average the co puts together during his visit.. why request less information from the congregations, especially when it "costs" nothing to accumulate it in the first place?

I don't think they care about the Pub Talk #s (imho)....indocrtination happens at the WT study and CBS.
Thanks for the insider info Sir!

I remember showing this to my wife about 3 years ago...even before I had the dredded doubts about the WTS, and her and I just thought it incredibly tacky. She said "that's kinda Jerry Falwell of them to solicit $$ online"

@ cantleave ... Thanks, guess I had understood "our" (lol) belief about the age of the earth to be 6000 years old, so when Lett brought that out, I thought it was something new. shows how much I know!
Side note: talked to 2 couples (30 somethings y.o.) typical r&f, and they are on the post convention guilt trip. One of the couples canceled dinner plans because they want to have their fam. worship night and talk about "goals". The other couple just talked to us about the strong counsel that they got..."we really need to get our act together" .................. omg :-( it's working

Hi AnnOmaly
To answer you question: No, from the 1 day I attended so far, The 'end is near' wasn't repeted ad nausium, or at least I didn't notice it any more than usual.
Also another point regarding Facebook, it was mentioned twice that I remember, but interestingly...not in the negative as in "true christians must not be on facebook", it was just mentioned as in not 'wasting' too much time playing online, watching tv etc, etc. So it must just be up too an individulal speaker on what to demonize and how much.
Another thing Lett brought out was that nobody knows how long the earth has been around. maybe millions of years, this was new to me, and I always assumed that JWs believed that the earth was 6000 years old. Maybe it is a slight shift from what used to be printed. And...last but not least, he did mention that Teddy J. is up in heaven busy as ever in that part of Jah's org.
Thanks for all your replies.

So my wife and I took a last min trip to visit her bro in Seattle....they wanted to go to at least 1 day of their DC. Long story short, The last talk of the day was by S. Lett of the GB. This was the talk where the two glossy brochures were released. "printed on high quality paper" he said. lol
I found it interesting that he stated twice that the bibliography in the back of both brochures, could be checked for accuracy and CONTEXT. They must realize the controversy that theyve created with some of thier lit.

Is this your congregation???
by tresdecu ini came across an old post (by jwd member: dozy) who had a % breakdown of the make up of the congo.
i thought about my own congregation, and was amazed at how accurate i think it actually might be.
plus i liked his descriptions of each group.

Although I appreciate it, I hope you all know that as one of Jehovahs Witnesses , I dont actually celebrate or do anything commemorative for my birthday. i was planning to go out clubbin tonight, not as a celebration of my birth, but as a celebration of me finally being able to drink and party legally."pretty stinking funny...what a wonderful witness he is giving. lmao!

He said true christians just don't watch such things. haha. this will be ignored by most I'm sure. Also the baptism consisted of an older lady who looked a bit mentally disabled. (my thoughts) and some 14-17 year olds....only about 5 total.
The assem before had no one getting baptised.
