Recovery, you are wasting your time. Thank you for promoting www.jwfacts.com ... it is one of the first sites I discovered when researching my religion. I imagine that %99.9999 of people will find this to be a great site written by a genuine guy just trying to help people see the duplicitous nature of the WTS. The %.0001 are crazy JWs like you (who are probably counting time) trying to find imaginary contradictions. If the author has made an honest mistake in verbage (being human) I'm sure he will have no problem correcting it. Just to be clear though, the only thing you are doing by starting these threads is to promote a helpful website, called www.jwfacts.com

Jwfacts-- Why So Many Contradictions?
by Recovery ini am well aware that many members of this board adhere to the view that the wt and/or the bible is contradictory.
the question is: if paul grundy is so enlightened as to 'the truth about the truth', why is he so contradictory?.
jwfacts to me (in a personal message): "much of the information at jwfacts.com is from the research of people far more gifted then me,and comes from jwn.

to date JWism has defined my life and i hate that TRUTH
by oompa inand i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.
but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .
how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?

Amen MC Rubber...
So sad to hear this news. A life lost...I am very sad. We should all respect others when they come here to vent and express themselves. If you have nothing nice or supportive to say, move on to another post.

Really Important Watchtower News
by scotoma indon't you hate these misleading headers.
i usually wait a day to see if there are a significant number of posters to the page.. but just look at the number of visitors that click on these kinds of subjects.. it builds up really fast.. i don't mind the time factor (1 milisecond) clicking on a bogus "new-secret-this will bring the org crashing down" type of post, but i have to admit it is very disappointing.. .

As soon as I see the dramatic headline I look over to see who posted it. If it's from a known wack-job, I don't click on it. If it's from somebody very credible it will be the first post I open. Most times it's a waste of time, like in this case. What makes it more of a waste is that I am actually replying to this.

Awesome job recording that and getting it on youtube for the world to see. Do you think they will ever find out that they are "online"?...would love to hear about their reaction?
Can the society put up a legal fuss about a JC meeting being online...if the "glorious ones" didn't know they were being recorded? Just curious.
Again...great job!!!

Interesting...you should forward the Sparlock info to Nick. Wouldn't that be awesome if they sued the WTS

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

@ Simon, you are probably right, I'm sure they don't have to pay full price for a set up day...I was just speculating. This rumor is probably not true, otherwise it wouldn't have fizzled out. I think people in the know would have come out of the woodwork to confirm. It's up there with the no more CO rumor and lower Pioneer Hour rumor. I do think this is something that is probably in their long term buisness plan. Just makes sense to ax fridays.
@ Obarac...the person that started this thread said he heard this from different sources. You say "This is not true"...while I agree it's probably not true or not true yet, why do you say so? Just curious. Do you have a Friday DC Talk outline in your hand? ;-)

JWS vs LDS
by tresdecu ini came across a mormon "sisters" blog...reading through some of her missionary experiences, it sounded so much like jw pioneer "sis" relating hers.
just swap out some of the cult-language words and it's suddenly a jw experience of sharing "bible truths" with some poor worldly sap.. here's an taste of it:.
1)we were also led by the spirit this week to a former investigator's home.

I came across a mormon "sisters" blog...reading through some of her missionary experiences, it sounded so much like JW pioneer "sis" relating hers. Just swap out some of the Cult-language words and it's suddenly a JW experience of sharing "bible truths" with some poor worldly sap.
Here's an taste of it:
1) We were also led by the Spirit this week to a former investigator's home. Her name is Aimee. We had penciled her in as a back up for Tuesday morning but since our appointment with a less active went through we didn't end up checking on Aimee. That afternoon we had planned to work in Schenectady but Sister Stacey just wasn't feeling it. She was like, "I really feel like we should stay in Glenville. We've worked Schenectady the past few days." So we said a prayer and told Heavenly Father we are not going to Schenectady but we're going to work in Glenville and to help us readjust our plans to be led to someone in need of our message." We decided to check on a less active and on our drive there, we came across construction that caused us to have to take a detour. We took the detour and we led right down Aimee's street. I said, "Let's stop at Aimee's and maybe she'll be home and we'll be able to meet her." We got out of the car, knocked on Aimee's door and she came. At first she was confused because she knew the other two sisters well. We introduced ourselves and she let us in. Over eight times she said, "I was just having one of those really sad afternoons, and then I heard a knock and it was you." She even called her husband at work and said, "You know how I was having a sad day? The sisters just showed up and we've been talking and I feel a lot better." Cool huh!?
2) One couple, Ryan and Angie live here in the Burg. They have two sons, a 4 year old and a 14 month old. They were raised Catholic and still attend church when they can. They brought up that they were getting their baby baptized into the Catholic church on the 29th. We talked about baptism and asked them why their son needs to be baptized. They didn't really know, but just that it's a tradition. It was neat to teach them a little about the significance of being baptized, the promises made, and the priesthood authority. We didn't get into it too in depth. I wanted to pull out Moroni 8 about children being born without sin, but it probably would've been too much. They are like spiritual babies right now! ha ha And so precious and golden to us so we didn't want to give them more than they can handle. I know the Mom felt that what we were saying was true. She started talking about having to pay for his little baptism too. Sad huh? I held back my feelings of how ridiculous that is. Ha ha. We told her no one is paid in the church we are members of and she loved that. After all of that small talk we started with a hymn and prayer and taught them the message of the restoration. I love teaching people these truths for the first time. How lucky we are as missionaries to testify to people that God has called a prophet again and restored his priesthood power to bind their family together forever! The spirit was very strong. We're meeting with them again this week. We committed them to read 3 Nephi 17 when the Savior blesses the children. We were able to testify of God's love for their children and how He wants them to live with him again as an eternal family.
