First off...Welcome! Thanks for taking the leap and posting. The more the merrier! Second, you Avatar is now, hands down my favorite ever. Very creative, and funny. Aptly shows the absurdity of the Org. You first paragraph described the way I feel....ya just wonder how many of us poor people that feel this way are stuck in, that feel the same.

Hi All - Finally Posting Here!
by Pyramid Scheme infirst off, i owe this site a tremendous debt of gratitude.
i have been an inactive witness for 4 glorious years, and the spark that began my fade out of the organziation was this site and paul's jwfacts.com.
it opened my eyes to a whole new world of insight, and i discovered that there were so many people out there like me - still a "spiritual" individual, but completely disgusted with the jw organization.

"Shepherd" book published online by National Broadcasting Agency in Norway!
by Boudica inwow, did not think this was possible... the whole shepherd the flock - book available + some of the late boe letters regarding child abuse policies and secrecy, published here by nrk (the national broadcaster in norway).. http://www.nrk.no/contentfile/file/1.10660993!2010_ks10-e3vedl%20til%20slutt%20%282%29.pdf.
wonder how long it will be before it is removed?.
and jw being top story, child abuse matters discussed from different angles.. well done to those who have been able to make nrk interested and give it full coverage!.

I wrote one of the writers of the article...here's her response, my original email at bottom:
Hello, and thank you for your input. It is interesting that not all the states require a clergy to report a sexual misconduct in the US. Here in Norway the law is very clear; you should always contact the police even if you only suspect misconduct. Thank you.
Best regards,

Emne: Article on your website.Sorry, I am from the States and do not speak Norwegian. I imagine that you speak English as most Scandinavians are excellent linguists. I am an (inactive) Jehovah's Witness that disagrees with many of the teachings and policies. I would get in trouble by saying that to my local Elders. I read your article with the help of Google translator. It was talked about online on a JW discussion website (mostly inactive and X-JWs)...and I noticed that the response from the Watchtower PR people said multiple times that they always contact the Police. I think they exaggerated this point so people would think that the organization does the right thing...always. That is not the case however. Here in the U.S. some states do not require clergy to report sexual misconduct (a severe flaw with the law) Elders here are first required to contact the WT legal dept. in Brooklyn NY...BEFORE anyone else. If it is determined that they live in an area that does not require reporting to Police the Legal Dept. spokesperson will tell them they have fulfilled their duty, and are done. If they do live in a "reporting state" where it is required...then the are instructed to go to a pay-phone and make an anonymous report to the police.
It might be interesting to ask a JW official in Norway if they are such a united organization (under God) why the disparity? Why not make it policy to always contact police...and not from a pay-phone. I hope more newspapers here in the U.S. do stories about the WT Society. Thank-you for your time!

Has the Governing Body 2.0 commenced Phase I of OHP (Operation History Purge)?
by Calebs Airplane inwith the recent boe letter that atlantis posted on jwn regarding older publications that needed to be destroyed or discarded from all kingdom halls and the new on-line library on jw.org which only goes back to the year 2000, i wonder if the gb 2.0 is about to eliminate the wt library cd which contains watchtower mags all the way back to 1950. is there even a cd for 2012?
if there is, i think it'll be their last cd before they go all on-line.
either way, it clear that the gb 2.0 (aka fds) has a plan to erase any evidence of their unsustainable bs in the last 130 years....

Spot on BalaamsAss: "Most JWs barely scan the magazines or read the bible....then they snooze through the meetings. About half of elders have actually ever read the bible cover to cover ONCE."
I'd add that only about 2-5% are really studious JWs (beyond underlining) the ones that really see how drastic the changes are.
PS Great Screen Name!

Is Your Life In Ruins Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness?

It's funny...I used to think I had the best life. Wonderful wife. Wonderful friends. Amazing hope for the future. etc. etc. - well, it's changed. Still a wondeful wife...realized the friends are conditional. Not sure what the future holds. just trying to figure out what I believe and have some fun along the way.
I don't really think it ruined me though. It is definitely making my life a little more tricky now.

So, as a dub for many years. This is one I could never really explain to people. Does the WT condemn this holiday (Thanksgiving) in writing somewhere. I don't remember really ever reading much on this one, except maybe in the school brochure. My wife was ok with cooking a big TK dinner on FRIDAY but 24 hrs earlier would have been a big no-no. I teased her about this pretty good too.

according to a new happiness index, north korea ranks second after china, followed by cuba, iran and venezuela.

I watched a documentary about N Korea a while back. It is amazing how out of touch that place is, the citizens are cult zombies for their dear leader. It's sad how brain washed they are.

Wow..I somehow missed this thread...this is HUGE. I know we have a 3rd or 4th year law student here...would be interesting to get her opinion on this. Could this really be a major crippling blow to the WT? Can't remember her screen name though...
