I totally agree with one of the above posters. We (myself included) go to the meetings as zombies, we sat, we went, therefore Jah approves, we conquered the day with "meeting attendance" So many have no clue of all the intricacies of the complicated belief system. I bet only 10% (that show up at the door) are up on all the changes. Usually the 45+ year old sisters. Even most of the elders are clueless. I am somtimes amazed at the docrinal questions my wife asks me and she's 38, baptized at 15 or 16. Vacation pioneered...etc etc. So so many like that. Again myself included. Obviously now I could care less that I can't explain some of the more "complex"issues created by these A$$holes in Brooklyn.

If you can't find Maximus, you can climb down the ladder a ways and talk to Minimus. He'll probably have some questions for you though ;-)

I read an article about Warner Bros. promoting "Man of Steel" (new movie) to Church groups. They even have a website with sermons in PDF. Any Elders or MSs willing to work a little Superman into your next talk?

PS The new Superman movie is good btw, I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

Welcome James Jackson...Thanks for your honest post! I am definitely not one to judge. Look forward to more of your experiences as an Elder. I think it's a good thing for Lurkers to read the thoughts of all these former "Gifts in Men".
I respect all of you, even if you were at one time a gung-ho Elder.

Here's is a follow up email I sent today...it's a link regarding a Parking scandal that happened out west in Seattle area. I have relative there and have been to some DCs at a place called the Tacoma Dome.
------------------------ email below ----------------------------------
Sorry to bother you again. There is another link that I wanted to include, but forgot. It is an article that was in the Tacoma Reporter (Tacoma, Wa) about 10 years ago regarding a dishonest practice by the Watchtower. A JW Convention overseer was eventually disfellowshipped (the action that results in shunning) because he did not agree with the dishonesty that was going on. I think you would find it interesting. It links directly to an image of the Tacoma Reporter article. http://www.watchtowernews.org/tacomapark.htm Thanks again for your time! ----------------------------- end ---------------------------------------------------------- ldnomo...sadly you are right, I'm sure not many people care about the paper, let alone the religion section, and further down the line, the JDubs. I think doing this is more theraputic for me than anything.

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story
by wizzstick ini'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.
