  it was totally vacuous.

  despite the promise of "new light" in the opening talk there was nothing.. a few of the more clumsy phrases in the nwt have been improved, and it has a nice new grey cover - so what?.

  i am thinking about the jws who have spent a lifetime waiting on paradise.

  Wow a New bible...in 21st Century English. Probably just an attempt to rake in some cash. I am sure they figure people will donate for a new bible. Whereas mant 'forget' to drop $ in the bucket for other pubs.

  Also this really caught my eye: "Do not have association with "bum" witnesses" A new official designation. I guess all my friends have just lumped me and wife into "Bum" witness category.

  kiddingMe, this is the second time I read this. So I guess the ticket buisness is not happening in the U.S. I heard it from 2 witnesses. It's answered as far as I am concerned! ;-)

  I doubt they would deny enterance to an inactive one, and how would they even know if that many people are streaming in. My wife wants to go. I told her I am not going, period.

  Thanks St George!

  Any 'Mericans out there too?? I imagine it's the same in the U.S.

  Why would we be encouraged to go if we need to have tickets, unless they have a couple of extras. But then again, I am sure only the sec. is authorized to hand them out to regulars. hmmmm?

  Question for any in the know. My wife and are are technically inactive. We go to some meetings, but many people probably don't know that we haven't turned in time in a while.

  We have been encouraged by family members to go. But according to this original letter, there are tickets involved. Is that still the case?

  Are inactives, who "need encouragement" invited? or...would they (us) be turned away???

  Thanks for anyone in "the knowing" class who can answer this question for me.

  Boeings "Dreamliner" starting to look like a nightmare.

  i am truly surprised to see boeing trying to roll out a plane so full of bugs and flaws.

  hope they can get things straightened out.

  major us industry giant, lots of jobs..

  Not too worried. Planes are complicated...they will get the bugs out. This happens to all new planes to some degree. There are billions of people on the earth and two main commercial aircraft companies. Boeing and Airbus. Fleets need to be upgraded. The world needs aircraft to make it go'round. This will pass & I think airlines will be patient due to the new technologies used that make it much more efficient...in the long run the 787 will save them millions of $$$

  i was shocked when i heard a circuit overseer include a strange comment in his concluding prayer at the end of this sundays meeting concerning the adjustments discussed in the watchtower.

  he said, in part (and im paraphrasing) thank you jehovah for the governing bodys unapologetic manner in providing these adjustments.

  i thought to myself, what a strange expression to make in prayer to god!

  I would love to be a fly on the wall in his brain. What could be going through his mind. Would you care to give his name? maybe others here know his personality and could shed some light on his prayer. Just a thought.

  "Worlds Apart" A danish movie about a young coming of age Jehovahs Witness , screening on SBS2 tonight in Victoria

  i know their have been screenings of this movie before , but this notice is for any newbies here that may not have seen it previously.

  it is scheduled to screen at 10:25 pm on ch.32 sbs2 sun.25/8/13 .

  maybe other states in australia can view it on-line , or request it be shown by sbs in their state.. it is an interesting movie , and apart from minor flaws , pretty accurate despite the beard,though i am told the danes are a bit more liberal than the west.. the real / actual jehovahs witness this story is based on has a cameo appearance near the end of this movie in the train sequence.. please let me know if you watch it and your thoughts about it .. smiddy.

  I am looking forward to seeing this movie! It's been out for a long time, but I am waiting to find a good time to watch it with my wife...I want to tweek her so she can see how cultish we are. I think this movie would be good for someone who's not an uber-dub, but a slacker-dub who still believes it's the truth.

  I also believe that finland is Nordic, but not Scandinavian! ;-)

  Do JW still hold to their 1984 Doomsday deadline?

  did jw's predict the world would end in 1984?.

  the september 21, 1984 issue of chrisitanity today on pages 66-67, ran an article entitled: "do jehovah's witnesses still hold to their 1984 doomsday deadline?".

  that's as far as my search has gotten me and it isn't on chrisitanity today's web-site.. can anyone find this article for me?.

  I remember meeting Glass back in the 90s. He gave the memorial talk at our hall. I was a young teenager in 84...and don't remember too much expectation or talk about 84. Must have been one of those things that circulated more in some areas than in others.
