lol...yess. My sis-in-law asked me about roku players the other day. She said they have 'the channel', the sacred JW.BORG channel. puke. Also, I am amazed how many dumb dubs spend 300-500 on ipads and ipad minis to use the societies apps when a 179.00 android tablet would do just fine. They here ROKU and IPAD from the platform and it's suddenly endorsed by Jah himself. What a sad joke.

Hi cantleave (...didleave) ;-)
I am intrigued...dont have time to sift through hundreds of posts and figure it out myself, but could you tell me what was the tipping point for your wife, cause as you mentioned in your 1st post "... she is completely devout as are her family."
a brief explanation or link to a key post would be fine. I am in a very similar situation to where you were 5 years ago. Thanks

Tv.jw.org - Average Jdub reaction? I'm getting NOTHING but Silence!
by 4thgen inhello all, as you know, when jw tv was announced, our board went wild.
many comments, much speculation and alot of negative feedback on the quality, etc.
well, what has me concerned is that i have not heard a peep from any of my connections left in kingdom-land.

This is a repost of mine from a similar thread:
Here is a post from a 30ish sister (I copied it from my facebook news feed)....I think this is a good indication to how effective it will be with Dubs:
"So, My Aunt said that she was up super late the other night watching the new JW TV site. She said she had tears running down her face, she was so happy to see all the videos. If you've never seen this before, please go check it out, you won't be dissapointed. The GB is really taking care of us..."
Puke
Maybe a 1/4 -1/3 of active dubs will think it's cheesy, but the rest are lapping this stuff up. The changes are being seen as positive.

Never thought I'd be into a Zombie show...I waited a couple of years before giving it a try. It's a great show. Suspense, & wonderful character development / writing.

How to tell how effective JW.TV will be
by bohm inhere is a simple and obvious way to tell how effective jw.tv is going to be:.
in the past, how effective has religious tv been for you?
has watching religious tv made by moonies, evangelists, mormons or scientologists made you seriously reflect on spirituality?

Please counter this with any "disgust" you may have heard, I need to read it after seeing this.

Accounts of Jesus From Hostile Ancient Sources
by Perry infrom ancient accounts hostile to christinity, we can learn the following:.
jesus was born and lived in palestine.
he was born, supposedly, to a virgin and had an earthly father who was a carpenter.

@ Yaddayadda2 - I love this:
"Have you ever noticed how miracles only happened in the very ancient past and will only happen again in the future?
They never happen right now. Never.
Funny that."

Flip-flops: Should we blindly obey?
by Splash injust reviewed the cd-rom to get the historical view on blind obedience.. suprisingly, the wt has had some flip-flopping ideas on this.. should we 'blindly obey'?no - w63 2/1 p. 73 par.
3 conduct "worthy of the good news".
and as we consider these commands of god, it is not just blind obedience that is required but, rather, seeking with 'our whole mind and heart' to understand and appreciate why god tells us to do this or that, or not to do a certain thing, so that we may serve him with understanding.

OMG...Thank god...I thought they made a rule / "reccomendation" about not wearing Flip flops (sandals, thongs, zorries). They'd alienate a lot of So Californians and Hawaiians with that one. lol. Read your topic all wrong.
sorry temporary hi-jack.
I am using the flip flopping of doctrine to slowly show my wife what once was "truth" is no longer "truth" ... If that's the case what else is wrong , dun, dun, dun....

Sorry OP...this is bogus, I share the same feelings as Mr. donuthole who said:
"However the idea of the JW getting Facebook and YouTube (Google) to change their policy is ridiculous JW fantasy. It's as laughable as the other rumor that a Pixar animator praised the Caleb & Sophia cartoons. Facebook is not going to change policy and their website to serve the whims of a fringe religion looking to crack down on discontent."
couldnt have said it better myself.

JW's and depression
by FeelingFree ini was wondering how many of you suffered badly with depression when you were in "the truth" and if you feel your depression was related to being part of the organisation?
are you better now you have left or still have issue's?
whatever your experience's i would be very intrested to know (if you feel you can talk about it.).

Personally I never suffered from depression while in the borg. I do feel it now however...I took the red pill and there's no going back. To lose one's religion and whole system of belief is hard. I wouldn't go back to my old self however, even though on "paper" I was happier. Something about knowing TTATT is a way better option. IMO.
