If DF'ed riff raff like me can be a part of this meeting, how jaw dropping of an announcement can it be?
Unfortunately I had planned to trim my toe nails on Saturday and the liklihood of me being able to attend this meeting is looking dubious.
this is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.

Whatever the announcement is, it will be met with an agreeing head shake, frisbee eyes, and a mutual agreement that "Only we have the truth. How wonderful to be a part of Jehovah's GRAND organization"
ok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .

They never smell of cigarettes
with many more cases in the offing the zalkin lawfirm will press the issue again and again and force gerrit loesch to testify.
what say you?.

If any GB II members are put on stand, then we can be sure to expect a Watchtower article stating that the event coincided with the locusts and trumpet blasts of Revelation. My parents (and company) will be so excited, get teary eyed and know we are on THE BRINK....
i hope i don't come across as judgemental but having read a lot on the current child abuse cases and the different threads on here, i am left wondering why on earth a parent of an abuse victim would go to an elder with the problem first and not straight to police?.
as a parent myself i know that if anything like that happend to my child (this applies to when i was still an active jw as well as now) i would not hesitate in going to the authorities as soon as i found out, it wouldn't of crossed mine or my husbands mind to go to an elder.
maybe after we had reported it but definitely never as the first port of call.
We had an elder in our hall that seemed to always be hosting a girl's sleepover for his 9 year old newly adopted daughter. Yes, come to find out he was molesting them. One young sister went straight to her mother the next morning after one of these infamous parties. The mother called the police before calling the elders. It broke the story wide open. He was DF'ed and then committed suicide the night before his sentencing. It split the congregation. Some were really angry with this sister for all the bad publicity in the papers (as if it was her fault)
I wish they all were like this mother!!!!!!

the national organization for jehovah's witnesses was ordered to pay $13.5 million to a san diego man who says he was abused as a child by his bible teacher.
nbc 7's rory devine reports on oct. 30, 2014.
Makes me almost believe in God....
a poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.
I remember that 15 minutes quite well......It was just enough time for my very strong Ukrainian mother to haul us five kids to the back room and give us all a good beating. It made no difference whether we were guilty of any mischief or not, the beating got delivered.
"what was the actual significance of that year, then?".
if jw's were overly zealous, what was the exact amount of zeal encouraged by the wts for a non-event which took up.
over 7 years of every jw's time?.
Trustworthy Bible chronology ...... What a laugh. One of my favorite parts of the book Crisis of Conscience is the GB discussion around changing the 1914 date to the Sputnik launch. Trustworthy Bible chronology at it's finest......
like most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.
now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.
there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.
Worked, enjoyed a Scooby treat and am now waiting for the OR and AZ game. Here's to hoping the Ducks are totally humiliated tonight and Hovah does not rapture me till the game is over.
i don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?
I regular pioneered through that decade. My memories of the 80's are district conventions, the Live Forever book, 2,600 hours of meetings and 10,000 hours of field service (minus 52 hours I was short in 1986), too many hours waiting in the car for an elder meeting to end, and countless evenings listening to a sister tell me about her ailments that will hopefully be cured in the paradise. A very FUNLESS decade for me.
Let's pick a different decade FHN
