All my siblings had left years before and welcomed me with as much love, affection and excitement you could possibly imagine. My parents were sad, but deep down totally understood due to me being married to an elder that more resembled a member of ISIS than your average husband. Even after being DF'ed, my JW parents have continued to stay very close to me through the years.

Elders: Born-Ins vs Recruits
by breakfast of champions inthis is an unofficial survey.. was curious as to the number of currently serving elders who were born-in and/or raised as jw versus those who were "recruited"( i.e, not born in or raised as jw.).
for instance, right now in the hall i am assigned to:.
2 elders were born-in and/or raised as jws.. 5 were not (recruited as adults).

BOC, another interesting thing I have observed is that a lot of born in elders have (had) unbelieving fathers

I remember that convention well. I was newly married and my husband and I had a few years of full time service under our belt, so we decided to sign up for possible candidates for Gilead. I was guzzling the kook aid.

A Non J-Dub paying a visit to KingDumb Hall!
by J-DUBBED ini was thinking of doing a pop-in visit when they're doing their thing(what ever that might be).
to just see what it is that lures and hooks people, like our son.
i was worried there is some sort of subliminal messages in audio or video that start to brain-wash a person.

Expect to be offered a free home Bible study by a seemingly kind, sweet elder.

Is Anthony Morris III gay?
by Calebs Airplane inwhy else would he constantly bring up "gay-inspired" clothing when speaking to such large audiences?.
nothing wrong with being gay.
but he should just come out of the closet already and stop all this stupidity... just saying.. .

This is slightly off topic, but I am on such a Gore Vidal obsession these days and I absolutely love, love, love the following quote by him.....
“Actually, there is no such thing as a homosexual person, any more than there is such a thing as a heterosexual person. The words are adjectives describing sexual acts, not people. The sexual acts are entirely normal; if they were not, no one would perform them.”

US Zone visit: disappointing, depressing, discouraging
by sir82 ini will have plenty of "snark" to post later on, but please indulge me while i get this out of my system..... suppose you are the leaders...yes, the leaders...there are only 7 of you...for the one true religion in all the universe.. jehovah the god of the whole universe speaks to you, you alone, out of 7 billion+ people on teh planet.. you have an opportunity, thanks to the advancements in technology, to speak to 750,000 of your followers "live", and another 750,000 or so within 24 hours.. 1.5 million people!
hanging on your every word!.
this is the first time in history you can simultaneously, or nearly simultaneously, address so many of your adherents.. what message are you going to present for this special occasion?.

My very dear, faithful to his last breath, 85 year old elder father wrote this to his die hard sister yesterday about the meeting ..... "Upbuilding, but agonizing in pointing out our mistakes"
(I have access to his email with his permission)
I know he is referring to children leaving the org. It breaks my heart that he faithfully keeps serving this organization only to continually get beat down and discouraged.
Good job Tony!! Way to keep those old people in line!!

Does having priveleges in the congregation mean you will have a successful marriage?
by hoser inafter reading about tight pant tony's rant about sisters only marrying ministerial servants lest their marriage will be a failure what anecdotal evidence do you have to support this.
the divorces that i am familiar with in the congregation show me that having priveledges in the congregation do not improve the odds of a better marriage.
i would say about 60% of the divorces had at least one spouse who was a pioneer, elder or ministerial servant.

I was a regular pioneer and married an elder and regular pioneer. I gave it my all for 20 years. It was nothing but a sham from the very, very beginning. We had absolutely nothing in common other than we both belonged to the same cult.....not a strong enough basis for anything, especially a marriage.
How very sad that nothing other than is the man spiritualis considered. News Alert Tony.....A marriage mate that is willing to get a job, engage in meaningful conversation, and do something in bed other than 30 seconds of missionary style goes a hell of lot further than whether my man is on the KH stage come Sunday morning!!
