  Are there any ex-missionaries here??

  i have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.

  and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.

  3rdgen.....My aunt (Sophie Soviak) was in the 2nd class of Gilead and was in the D.R. also. She was known as the one of the Banana Bunch along with her partner Mary Annual, who then went on to marry Joel Adams. Sophie never married and was sent to Argentina where she was an active missionary until her death in 2007. I bet our Aunts served together.

  I just found out that my youngest brother committed suicide

  my middle brother called me a couple of hours ago.

  our youngest brother, josh, who was 38, was found by his friends in his apartment.

  he hung himself.

  I am so sorry Rich. I lost my dear nephew a year ago yesterday to suicide and my brother not too long before that. It is a pain that never goes away. At the height of my grief, I had a very good friend tell me "You will get through this, but you will never get over it". Her words have proved true. My kindest thoughts are with you at this terrible time.

  stanford the trial of a jehovahs witness accused of raping a 15-year-old girl nearly two decades ago is expected to begin in april.. donovan moore, 53, of 2059 st. michael drive in lexington, was indicted in september on four counts of third-degree rape and four counts of third-degree sodomy for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a juvenile in 1997 and 1998. moore was 35 at the time of the alleged crimes.. lincoln circuit judge jeffrey burdette has scheduled a two-day trial for moore to begin april 27.. .

  moore has been lodged at the lincoln county regional jail since his arrest sept. 30 on a $75,000 full-cash bond.. .

  james woods has been a long time regular on this discussion group in all of its incarnations.. he had some kind of "heart-attack" and has been in dallas' emergency ward for several days.

  he also has a blood clot doctors are working to break up.. 972-261-4412 is his cell number.. he was in a talking mood yesterday afternoon.. i bet it wouldn't kill him to get some well-wishes.. james goes back a long way as an ex-jw.

  he knows where the bodies are buried :).

  the more specific the better :) here are mine:.

  i predict that within the next two to three years (2017-2018) we will start seeing negative numbers in growth.. i predict that within the next thirteen to fifteen years (2027-2030) the number of jws will be less than 4million.. and i predict that by the time the first person sets foot on mars there will already have been a major split in the organization with either one of the gb or a branch overseer starting a new religion..

  I believe any increase going forward will be from inbreeding. The preaching work will result in zero returns. This will cause even more dumbing down because these kids are raised with very little outside influence and the bare minimum education. They are void of any kind of critical thinking skills. They cannot reason or debate in any way and they are unaware of how to be honest in the real world. Things like 607, 1914, who our mediator is, who is annointed, what a generation is etc. will just fade into the back ground because nobody really cares what they do or do not stand for. Cartoons and Broadway tunes will be their meat in due season.

  These will be the future leaders of this organization.

  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  I thought it was just me that hated the word. Growing up in a small redneck town in the middle of nowhere, the kids in grade school and junior high always made fun of me by calling me "Jehovah". I guess my hatred for the name goes much deeper than kids making fun of my religion.

  having now been out of the cult for a few years, it really shocks me about some of the nonsense i used to believe in.

  like for instance, christ ruling in the midst of his enemies, but doing so invisibly.. let's let that one sink in for a minute.

  you've supposedly got a king who is ruling for a kingdom, but it is an invisible rule.
