  Merry Christmas

  nothing profound in this thread.. just a simple "merry christmas" to those here who no longer consider it as something evil to be avoided.. the message goes out especially to those on the board:.

  -- who never were allowed to celebrate christmas growing up.

  -- who weren't allowed to say "merry christmas" back to "worldlies" who said it to them.

  My Emotions are Like a Limp Dish rag - S.F. Giants Championship Parade !

  the 2010 baseball world championship giants had a parade today in san francisco - 1.5 million fans lining the streets for the first championship since 1954 !

  my wife and i watched on the comcast network millions of championship years starved fans lining the streets celebrating this awesome team who played like a team looking out for each other with all 25 players- not just 1 expensive free agent with a massive size ego .. when my son was 12 years old in 1997 i took him to see a classic giants/dodgers game at candlestick park fighting for first place and the giants beat the dodgers on brian johnson's 12th inning home run & rod beck got out of a bases loaded no out jam to put the giants into 1st place in late september that year !

  we were high fiving giants fans we had never met- such a unifying force !.

  Congrats on your Giants World Series Championship! As a White Sox fan I was glad to see Uribe and Rowand get another ring. Giants pitching reminded me of the White Sox pitching in '05 when they won it all, absolutely lights out!

  Pagan Origins

  so all of us that grew up as witnesses never did certain things because of them having pagan origins.

  why don't we celebrate christmas?

  this has not happened to me personally ,but was told to me by a reinstated member.

  a sister who was reinstated, accompanied her mom to another sisters house for dinner.

  and a movie.

  I am thankful that my Mom always put her kids first and would have told that sister off! When my sister was df'd twice my mom never shunned her or stopped going out in public with her, going out to eat,shopping, etc. Looking back now I think my Mom stopped beleiving it all but just could'nt tell anyone.

  my birthday is coming up next week.

  ever since leaving the watchtower i aways do something on or round that day with my sister.

  we usually go to lunch and do something like see a movie, play golf, or spend the day at the beach together.

  I remember when I was a teenager I asked an elder why can we celebrate wedding anniverseries and not birthdays? He said " because god instituded marriage". Then I said " did'nt he institute birth"? He had nothing to say and lucky for him another elder needed to speak to him so he scurried off.

  when one brother, who was a very close friend of mine for the whole duration of my time as a witness, realized that i not only wasn't going to meetings any longer, but had very serious doubts and questions, he made an interesting, and, i'll admit, rather unsettling comment.

  he was aware that, though i was missing from the hall, i was still close to a half dozen or so members, associating with some of them on a more than a once or twice weekly basis, and that the majority of these were having doubts of their own.

  he had me to his home for "a talk.
