We're Making a Film About Post Armageddon

the jwb crew is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant by the cyprus film and arts academy to create a short film based on on the diary of an armageddon survivor - http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/2010/01/diary-of-armageddon-survivor.html.

the grant is small (around $16,000), but includes the leasing of 4 very good cameras, lighting and sound equipment.

exactly SixofNine that was a false statement. I am suffering from cancer myself right now as some of you know and if it was not for the medical advances made in the last 20 years I would have very little chance of surviving.

People suffering from some of the most common forms of cancer are twice as likely to survive for at least 10 years, compared with patients diagnosed in the early 1970s, research showed today.

Breast, bowel and prostate cancer survival rates have shot up, as have those for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and leukaemia. The study, for Cancer Research UK, compared data on 10-year survival rates of patients diagnosed with cancer in 1971-72 with the expected survival rates of those diagnosed in 2007. On average it found that 45.2% of cancer patients are now expected to survive at least 10 years, compared with 23.7% in the 1970s.

I am in the medical proffesion. Trust me if there was a proven cure it would be heralded rather quickly. here is my rational;

1 The greed of big pharm has no bounds, They would stand to make a fortune on a recognized cure. Remember many many of these big pharm companies are located outside the US(where he US government and the FDA have no say)

2 The biggest spender on treatments for cancer (medicaid, medicare) is the US government. It would save them so much money (money that they don't have) That they would be pushing the treatment even if it had a 50% success rate)

Please be careful about supposed cures for cancer. The evedenc they use to support their claims is usually antidotal, and never peer reviewed. I would need to see a peer reviewed scientific study to support any such treatment. Peer reviewed studies are scientific studies where results of treatments must be duplicated in order to be accepted. Do not forget the Laetril hoax in the 70's

interesting. The examples you guys have demonstrated make a question come to mind. Why do they want to control members choices even when it has nothing to do with religion. i.e clothing choices, facial hair etc

the social networks facebook , twitter, youtube, etc.

are valuable tools in creating the energy to incite apostates of the watchtower org.

to come out and protest and expose the cover-ups, the child molesters, the shunning and breaking up of families going on in the jehovah's witness religion.. the protest saturday june 25th 2011 from 7 am until 1 pm in front of the pepsi coliseum in quebec city against the watchtower is getting lots of attention on the internet.. protesters are now able to organize and and reach millions of people who have been hurt by this destructive cult.. jean-philippe cossette founder and webmaster of www.watchowerlies.com.

As others have said most have no issue with Rick's protesting. It is the manner in which he advertises these events that trouble some here. Perhaps if he just anounced that there was going to be a protest rather than making it seem like it would be a grandiose event he would gain more exceptence. I applaud anyone who would picket the assemblies. Even if those inside do not allow themselves to b informed, perhaps those that pass bye on the street may benifit.

I think that control over the masses is the sole purpose of many of the watchtower rules. I think if they can get you to remain uneducated, ignorant of other theories and beliefs, as well as socially isolated they have won the battle. Question everything , find your own truth. I wish I had come to this realazation sooner.

As I reflect on my life as a JW I remember how the religion attempts to control so many aspects of your life. I decided to make a list with examples of the mind numbing number of things that they feel they have the right to control in members lives.

1 What and how much education its members are entitled to pursue.

The witnesses look down on formal secondary education. You can have privileges and congregational status withheld from you if you choose to further your education. This is quite unique among Christian religions. Most Christian religions in fact have either started colleges or encouraged their members to become better educated. This is particularly evidenced by the requirement of formal higher education for the leaders of these religions i.e. clergy. My question to the JWs is why are they afraid of higher learning?

2 The leaders of the witnesses want to control what medical treatments its members receive. It would seem to me that whether to receive a blood transfusion in order to save one's life is much more in line with the sanctity of life than a dogmatic tenant that was never endorsed by god in the scriptures( the bible never can be specifically quoted as saying do not take a blood transfusion)

3 The leaders of the witnesses also try to exert control over who you can talk to even when it comes to family members. This cannot be considered a loving and normal relationship. If a family member does not agree with the tenants of the witnesses "you cannot associate" or hang out with them.

4 Even the sexuality of witnesses is fodder for the control freaks, who head the witnesses. They attempt to regulate what are acceptable relations between a man and wife. They condemn masturbation. They rail against homosexuality. However, their beliefs allow pedophiles to be protected in their midst.

These are just some examples of their attempts to control their members. Please comment on them and any other control issues that they have.
