There will be a special tract campaign. Well, they have one pretty much every year, so not sure how it's 'special' anymore...

The 2008 DC was all about the fear. This was particularly stressed during the talk on youth (the talk leading up to the release of the QYPA Pt2).
It was also all about the FDS - obey obey obey obey obey.
And we also got the comment that we don't need to fill ourselves with knowledge from the Bible. After all, Paul came to the congregations with - 1 Cor 2:2 For I decided not to know anything among YOU except Jesus Christ, and him impaled.
The brother handling that assignment quoted the above scripture and said, "So you can see from that verse Paul only came with basic knowledge so that he could tell the brothers about Jehovah God".
Kinda took me back to the times when the WT contained comments telling the brothers to leave studying the Bible to those in Bethel who wrote the magazines....
The spiritual dark ages are upon us, people. The lead up to 2014, the centennial of Christ's invisible presence begins. -

No one else fulfills the preaching of Matt 24:14
by passwordprotected inas explained to me recently, only jehovah's witnesses are actively fulfilling matt 24:14, thus showing them alone to be the true religion.
sidestepping the glaring issue of jesus stating that love would mark the identity of true christians, let's examine that notion.. .
i have personally rebutted that opinion by stating, with accuracy, that many christians have a gospel ministry and manage to reach hundreds of millions of people across the planet with their message.. .

@ Rockhound;
I JW recently told me that we don't mention Jesus as much in the 'ministry' these days because that's what was needed back in the 1st C. They needed to know about him back then. Nowadays people need to be warned about Armageddon instead of being told about Jesus. -

@ truthseeker;
Exactly. And what blows my mind is you can safely, within the Greek, replace the word Christ with anointed. False anointed... -

Here's a follow-up point;
Was the girl in fact being 'righteous' instead of good? What did Jesus say the difference would be? -

Twilight Zone "On Thursday We Leave For Home" Parallels
by neverendingjourney inim a fan of the original twilight zone television series.
i recently saw an episode entitled on thursday we leave for home, and it dawned on me that it had some interesting parallels regarding why a lot of witnesses never leave the religion even when it starts to become clear that its not the truth.
of course, these shows presented short moral lessons and different people can find different morals in them, but i digress.

Good analogy.
After a recent WT study re. the amount of hard work and study (they sure make a lot of 'new scrolls' being opened, don't they?) we'll need to do in paradise, a sister commented to me that it makes you wonder if you even want to be there.
For years we've been told that all of the sacrifices we make in this system - not being able to learn to play an instrument (takes too much time), not getting a better education (takes too much time), not having jobs that fulfill us (too distracting), not pursuing hobbies that fulfill us (takes too much time) - it will all be more than made up for in the paradise (God is stretching out his hand and satisfying the desires of every living thing).
Yet the closer we get to the centennial year of Christ's invisible presence, the less appealing paradise is beginning to sound. -

Very, very good point. The overriding thought I got from the 9 part symposium on the fruits of the spirit were, no matter who does what to you, it's up to you to show more fruitage of the spirit.
It's never up to the person wronging you to 1) stop it, or 2) demonstrate that fruitage in their life. Rather than teaching the active demonstration of love, they teach that when you're wronged or slighted or made to feel bad you must take steps to do more to feel better about it. -

The point is, however, that no matter how the Society tacitly nods to other forms of preaching, perhaps even using technology to facilitate it, they still rely heavily on door-to-door. If any dub in a land where full religious freedom can be practiced replaced door-to-door with internet or radio witnessing they'd find themselves being questioned, scrutinised, and if a brother, removed and denied privileges in the cong (you need to have a 'seen share').
