I'm with you on this, boyzone. Just before I started to wake up to the truth about the WTS I began questioning the door-to-door ministry. Is it the best way to get the message out there when we've got tools like the internet, was my thinking?
My conviction is that the WTS want to keep the Witnesses going door-to-door for one reason; to stay beneath the radar. Here in the west, if we're confronted with something new and (perhaps) interesting, what's the first thing we'll door? Google it. The WTS know that if the door-to-door ministry was actually successful, i.e. people were found at home, they're running the risk of people Googling "Jehovah's Witness" and coming across sites like this one and freeminds.org.
Just my take on it.

by Witness 007 ini hate the damn daily text!
i would wake up tired, looking for coffee and some eggs after a party night and my mum or wife would say "first lets read the daily text".......so not in the mood!
it's like a mini brainwash in case you forget your a witness later in the day.. remember whaen it came with the yearbook attached?

Didn't you love it when someone would refer to last Thursday's text in daily conversation and you didn't know what the hell they were talking about?
I know elders who'd say things like, "Did you notice that excellent point in the Text this morning?". This was done to test their subject as to whether they were being "faithful" to the "Slave's" direction...

I remember one very self-righteous brother commenting during a Q&A re. the Daily Text that he refuses to eat anything until he's "considered" (weird choice of word, right?) the Daily Text.
The brother conducting the service meeting item in question replied, "Well, I hope you never lose your Daily Text...".

We do show love for our enemies by witholding close association
That, my friend, is a dichotomy. How is with-holding close assocation with someone, especially a family member, showing love? And are those who conscienciously leave the Watch Tower Society due to no longer wishing to put their trust in flawed, un-inspired men, to be classed as enemies?
