Which one to read daily or at all....Watchtower or Bible???
by oompa ininpired by another thread.....funny, but most dubs would quickly say "the bible"......and maybe even mention the brooklyn sign that says "read gods word the bible daily"......yet why?.
dubs teach that there is no way to understand the bible, unless wt through is faithful and discreet slave "class" (and that is one class i would like to see graduate already)........ they would point to: (acts 8:29-31) .
" 30 philip ran alongside and heard him reading aloud isaiah the prophet, and he said: "do you actually know what you are reading?

I read the Bible every day. I don't usually have time to read entire chapters, but I always look at the Bible.
I do, however, listen to the Daily Audio Bible via podcast. I started listening daily to it in May, so by next May I'll have "read" the whole Bible in a year.
I think it's important to read the Bible through the lens of Jesus, rather than through the lens of Watch Tower teachings.

What Works Best on Exposing JW's? All of the above....
by AllTimeJeff inthere are some days when i log in here and because of my own views on governing body dogma (which is, its a big smelly stinky wet pile of shit), i find myself writing essays about subjects concerning how nutty their doctrines really are, how weak they are.
so i do these expose's and at the end of it, i feel better, because i know, (i know!
) that the governing body are cynical liars, and that their doctrine is total crap.. i know this is good for those who actually care enough to take up the gb on its offer to "study the deeper things", might question what they find, and want some other info... thats how it started with me.... lately however..... this other way, where you simply mock jw's.... when i first came here, i was pretty sensitive to that.

"Is this a better life Jeff as you yourself say is a danger to hate and mock what you once loved?
Reniaa"
I don't wish to speak for Jeff here, but that's a personal question, Reniaa, and you state that you don't answer personal questions. Therefore, do you consider it polite to ask personal questions?
Speaking for myself, hating something you once loved can be part of a better life if what you loved was damaging and false.

"It still amazes me that people can go through the effort to free themselves from that experience and then go out and join some Church and convince themselves to believe even worse things about God.
Haven't they learned any life lessons."
Don't knock what you haven't tried. While I can understand people choosing not to believe in God, for those who have a faith in the supernatural exploring this in church isn't anywhere near equatable with sitting through a meeting in the Kingdom Hall.
For a start, you're allowed to disagree and ask questions. You're allowed to consider all of the evidence. For example, I know of many Christians who've read the God Delusion. But how many JWs have read Crisis of Conscience?

Jeff, I think a level of balance is needed, in particular from yourself. You've always written in a considered but uncompromising way. I'd wager that's the way to best reach a JW who's confused and worried about how they're feeling re. having doubts and is looking for some truth.
It's my opinion that's there enough vitriol against the JWs on this forum, and while I completely understand why people feel that way (and Reniaa's posts certainly don't help), exiting or doubting JWs need a firm voice of reason, which, IMO, you helped provide.
So, by all means shoot from the hip when you have to, but don't lose what you've been offering on JWN and freeminds.

Everyone is missing a good chance to make a statement on this website
by LearningToFly ini understand we are all sick of hearing about michael jackson.
this website called the kaleidoscope factor has numerous pro-jw comments posted by obvious jw's, with few posts telling the truth about the religion.. here is the link that was posted in another post: http://traceyricksfoster.wordpress.com/2009/07/16/michael-jacksons-children-attend-local-kingdom-hall-of-jehovahs-witnesses-with-aunt/.
here is a good chance to make a statement, one which will be seen by many.. regards,.

damn... that moderator is a real piece of work "put the old books away and join us in the 21st century", well, here in the 21st century they teach jesus selected them based on what the taught up to ... 1919! so is that not the only really relevant time to check out? i mean, if jesus selected them back then, everything they teach now must be true regardless, if he didnt, well ..
Very good point.

It's amazing how quickly you forget how inward looking the WTS really is.
Billions of people are going to be destroyed at Armageddon just because the United Nations has turned against the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society? I bet you Jim Jones and David Koresh spouted similar skewed nonsense.

Everybody say hi to my husband...

Hi Cognac's Hubby!
I was unbreakable too until I noticed how much control the Governing Body actually have and how they're happy to reverse decades of teaching from the Bible because the price of gas is increasing (remember the reason they gave for canceling the Book Study Group?).
I hope field service was ok, I know it can be a drag at times. Hopefully your time was used as productively as possible and that as many people as could be reached actually were; remember, the message you bear is life saving.
By the way, on Sunday during the Watchtower Study, just for your own entertainment, notice how often the "faithful and discreet slave" is mentioned and compare that with how often Jesus is mentioned. Then look up John 14:6.
Have a great weekend.

As of July 1st No more reimbursements directly to CO's etc. from congregations.
by cattails inwell if i read it correctly it seems that at the spanish extj.com forum.
there's a letter (in spanish of course) saying there's a change in the.
way reimbursement of expenses are going to be made for co's, and.

The monthly accounts report should be posted on the board, it should also be read out once per month during the "Service" Meeting. The CO's expenses are not put forward for resolution as they are always on or under £100 (UK). Anything over that needs to go to the congregation.
In days gone by you'd hear a resolution for the CO's expenses, however what wasn't announced was that the CO already had the money.

Secret handshakes take the form of people within a congregation giving the CO and his wife a card, letter, envelop etc, with cash in it.
