"When faced with trials or apostate ideas or when carrying out challenging assignments, loyal followers of the FDS can be confident of Jehovah's guidance and support."
Close. I'd hazard it'd be more like;
"When faced with trials or apostate ideas or when carrying out challenging assignments, loyal follows of Jehovah* can be confident of God's guidance and support."
R *by Jehovah they mean the Governing Body. -

Sept29-Oct5 "Jehovah Will Not Leave His Loyal Ones" Name Jehovah is used 21 times, Jesus is mentioned 3 times. The FDS is, of course, mentioned.
Highlights;
Par 4 - rulership of Solomon is mentioned as "rightly foreshadowing the future Millennial Reign of Chris Jesus". So, the reign of an imperfect human ruler foreshadows the perfect rule of Christ? This is especially galling when you go onto par5, which states "Solomon ceased to obey Jehovah's laws and became increasingly oppressive." Are the WTS implying, subtly, that Jesus' rule will be oppressive? This is interesting, as they later mention that Christ has been ruling for nearly 100 years. During that 100 years what has Christ done? Aren't things becoming more oppressive for the typical self-persecuting JW? Aren't things becoming harder? Yet, Christ is ruling as King. This also throws up the conundrum - if the Millennial Reign of Christ lasts 1000 years, then is he 10% into that reign? Is it, in fact, Christ that is responsible for the hardships being experienced by JWs around the globe? He is, afterall, King in heaven...
Par6 goes a bit further by quoting 1 Ki 11:9-11 where is says, "I shall without fail rip the kingdom away from off you, and I shall certainly give it to your servant." Later in the article it becomes apparent that the WTS have in fact done this, ripping Jesus authority away from Him and giving it to the FDS.
Par9 is super-confusing. It talks about how Jesus has been ruling in heaven for almost 100 years. It then says, "Soon he (Christ) will bring complete relief to those fearing God's name." To back this up it cites Rev 11:15-18 where there is no mention of the name Jehovah in the Greek text. v17 talks about the Lord ruling as King. Didn't the WTS just say in the paragraph that Christ is King? The verses in Revelation say that the Lord (who is ruling as King) would bring to ruin those not fearing his name. Whose name? The WTS say Jehovah, but it's clear from their comments in the paragraph and the Greek text in Revelation that the name is that of the Lord, Jesus.
Par10 discusses God's kingdom being a real government. "Our allegiance belongs to Jehovah God and (wait for it) his arrangement." Typically, Jesus is removed from the discussion even though Matt 28:18 confirms that Jesus has the authority, that He is King and it's His rule that has to be respected. Allegiance, according to the paragraph, does not involved Christ the King, but rather Jehovah and his arrangement, which is WTS-speak for organisation.
Par13 talks about apostate influences, both through governments and through Christendom. "Christendom's clergy and other presumptuous ones (aka apostate former JWs) have tried to claim the spiritual priesthood for themselves." So, the WTS has never presumptuously done this? The paragraph continues, "However, only among true Christians do we find genuine anointed ones". Of course, no evidence is cited.
Par14 continues with the apostate-bashing. "We reject the false claims of those who profess to be serving God and at the same time dishonour him by their conduct." Quite a statement, considering the content of this study article, and particular when you factor in John 5:23 "in order that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father". Do the WTS honour the Son in the same way they honour the Father? Jehovah (who they claim is the Father) is talked about 21 times in this article, whereas the Son gets mentioned only 3 times, one of those occasions occurs in the following paragraph in typical WTS-speak.
Par15 has the much awaited mention of the FDS. "With hearts full of gratitude, we stay close to "the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time." Notice how they lift this one part of Jesus' parable of the FDS straight out, omitting the fact that Jesus was asking a rhetorical question. Thus, this question becomes a statement of identification. They go on to say, "Christ has appointed this slave "over all his belongings." So, if Christ is ruling as King, and has been doing so for 100 years as per Par9, the WTS are teaching that His "belongings" actually belong to them. Compare what I wrote re. Par6 above. If we don't understand a certain position taken by "the slave class", the paragraph goes on to say, that is no reason to reject it, or "return to Satan's world. Instead, loyalty (to the WTS) will move us to act humbly and wait on Jehovah to clarify matters." Typically, the WTS don't feel any humility or 'waiting on Jehovah' is necessary for them. Instead, the rank and file must humbly and loyally wait on other imperfect humans to adjust their imperfect and fluctuating interpretation of Scripture. Of course, this teaching completely leaves Christ out of the equation, even though the Bible teaches that He is head of the congregation and that He has all authority in heaven and on earth. So, if anyone was going to sort out any spurious teaching, it would have to be the Christ, what with Him being head, and all.
Bizarrely, par19 makes this weird statement;
"When faced with trials or apostate ideas or when carrying out challenging assignments, God's loyal ones can be confident of Jehovah's guidance and support."
Notice anything odd about that sentence? "God's loyal ones can be confident of Jehovah's guidance..." If Jehovah is God, and vice versa, why refer to them using two terms in the same sentence. Those loyal to God can expect Jehovah's guidance is what they're saying. Isn't the use of Jehovah redundant in that sentence? Did they have a 'Jehovah' quota to make up and threw it in there right at the end? -

My wife wants the stepson to 'study'....any ideas??
by insearchoftruth inas if i did not have enough stress in my life right now.....we have a son who has finally come clean on some of the things he has done in the past, and these things were pretty bad.
my wife (who many of you probably feel you know from earlier posts) has been acting very interested in the jws and now with the son's admittance of his transgressions, she has decided that it is time for him to 'meet his maker', so she has told him that the two of them will be studying the 'bible' together.
she has talked to the sister she has studied with about this and she is more than willing to help by providing literature to guide the studies, i am guessing the 'young people ask' books.

I'm not sure if this is out of left-field here, but aren't you the head of your household? Can't you put your foot down and state strongly that you have no desire for your son to study the Bible with an organisation?
Can't you just say "no!"? -

Column in 2nd Sept 2008 issue of The Sun (tacky-ish UK red top tabloid newpaper) by the excellent Bill Leckie.
Writing about doomsday prophets, he states the following;
Quote;
Cults, telly evangelists, random nutjobs, they all make death their life's work. The head of the Moonies comes out round about once a decade and announces the date when we'll all go phut.
The Jehovah's Witnesses told us we were doomed in...wait for it...1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925 and 1975.
End Quote.
Let's hope a few JWs read this and start thinking. -

Official guide to punishing weak ones
by MissingLink inanyone want to help me put together this guide?
i think in the goal of "serving united" we need to have consistent standards.
you know what i'm talking about - when a "friend" of a faithful witness expresses some "weakness" the strong friend will punish the weak one.
