When the elders visited my wife and I we were told that we'd need to make our minds up about what we want to do re. the WTS/meeting attendance etc.
I'm convinced that the WTS is not going to sit back and let faders get away with appearing to have their cake and eat it.

No book study?
by jacethespace inis it true that the watchtower has scrapped the book study group meetings?.
i find this really funny as for years when i was in the tower i was constantly being told how jehovah has set up the book study group so that when the great tribulation starts and religion is turned on we can then all meet in our small book study groups around the world and be protected and still be instructed and spirtually poisoned i mean fed to death.but now this plan is blown out the window those still in the tower are still falling for this bull and believing no doubt that this is jehovah improving his organization.. has anyone still in asked what will happen to the congregation now when religion is banned at the end?.
also what about the scripture they always used which said 1st century christians met in there homes?does that no longer matter or apply?.

It's true that as of January 09 JWs will no longer meet in private homes for study. 6 months before this was announced the WTS produced a question box in the Sept 07 KM which pointed out that the FDS do not endorse groups meeting together for Bible study.
So, not only have they scrapped their endorsed private home meetings, they've also as good as banned the Dubs independently meeting together in private homes.
It was this which prompted my exit from the WTS. -

The Great WTS Sleight of Hand
by passwordprotected innot to mention the grand hounding and recapture program that is shaping up to start this spring.
it is in the 11/2008 kool-aid washtowel, and soon will be studied by the witlesses.
thus, if you do not return, they are going to get you.. as for poor satan?

Clearly their plan is to avoid mentioning 1914! At the recent DC it wasn't mentioned at all. However, there are for sure Dubs who are alert to the fact that, jeez, hasn't time moved along....

...it doesn't equate to disassociation yet...the key word being yet. I've been in elders' meetings where 'grave concerns' have been raised over long-term faders (of course, I didn't know about that term back then) and it was mooted that such ones should be approached and asked if they planned to return.
I myself was told by an elder that I'd have to make my mind up about returning to the WTS. If I choose not to return, which is certainly my intention, does that mean I've DAd myself?
One brother put it to me that by saying I wasn't returning to the WTS I was, in effect, DAing myself.
I don't think it takes much of a leap for this to become unofficial policy... -

Because they cancelled meeting in private homes without scriptural basis.
Any Christian knows that there's significant scriptural support to notion of meeting in private homes. But to remove that meeting without citing decent scriptural backing got me thinking, "where the hell is the GB leading us?" Once you start to think that....well....... -

The reason I'm coming to this conclusion is that I have evidence that elders are already asking faders this very question: "Do you still wish to be known as a JW?"
It's a loaded Q, as we all know. Answer incorrectly and you are DAing yourself in front of 2 witnesses.
Now, where is the scriptural basis for asking that question? -

Interestingly, it was the 'lightening of the load' by getting rid of the private homes meeting that started my process of waking up and leaving the Org.

The supposition that the WTS would need scriptural basis to implement a DA rule for faders is a bit shaky! After all, they binned meeting in private homes by citing gas prices...not to mention the 1935 sealing of the kingdom of the heavens, the 1925 teaching, the 1914 doctrine, the great crowd being on earth teaching, the blood policy, the organ transplant policy...the list could go on. All of these rules/policies/doctrines affect/affected lives. And not in a good way. And there's little in scripture to support any of them.

Here's what I think will happen as I continue to develop my WT sleight of hand thought...
Faders are a problem. They want their cake and they want to eat it too. They want the fellowship with friends and family, invitations to gatherings, or the chance to play a game of football with the 'brothers' on a Sunday evening.
However, they don't put in the hours and they're hardly at any meetings. This starts to look like an option for other fatigued or disaffected JWs. These faders set a terrible example!
I reckon it won't be long before the WTS tightens the fist once again. Faders will get a friendly visit from two friendly, neighbourhood elders. The faders will be asked about their meeting attendance and, more importantly, their FS. They'll be asked if they realise that meeting attendance and FS are key identifiers of JWs, and that by regularly attending meetings and participating this important life saving work a person identifies themselves as a JW. So, they'll be asked, do you still want to be known as a JW?
If the answer is in the affirmative, the fader will be encourage to once again resume their efforts in this fine Christian service. However, if it becomes clear that they aren't going to pick up the pace and get involved in meetings and ministry again, they'll be DAd due to their actions, or lack thereof. And of course, if they reply in the negative, g they'll be DAing themselves on the spot.
It's all about the sifting. It's all about the love of the greater number cooling off. It's all about clearing out the dead wood.
"See?", they'll say, "Look at how many have left the love they had at first. Firm evidence, brothers, that we are closer than ever to the time of the end." -

A really annoying text
by strawberry cake inthis is a really irritating text that i received from an old jw acquaintance.. .
i would like to tell you that the latest book we received 'keep yourselves in god's love', says that jw have to strictly avoid someone disfellowshipped.
the same applies to someone who left organization.

My wife and I ceased attending meetings a couple of months ago. We've seen a sum total of no JWs since then. None call or visit. This was pointed out to a JW by a fading friend of ours. Her reply was, "Well, associating with your friends is a privilege and if you're not going to the meetings you lose that privilege."
